    MinIlvl Leveling Dungeons

Looking at Heavensward and Stormblood, especially Sohm Al and Sirensong Sea.

By the time a player reaches those dungeons, they will have received at least a set of i110 and i240 gear, respectively.

Every HW/SB dungeon has at least 1 boss that has high unavoidable damage. It is impossible for most jobs to survive such damage on their own with insufficient gear.

If a player runs "The Steps of Faith" or "Baelsar's Wall" which have an ilvl requirement of 90/230 respectively, why does Sohm Al or Sirensong Sea not require at least that much?

With insufficient gear, a duty can be impossible to complete. The Duty Finder can and should prevent this.

I feel like the game assumes you'll have that ilvl because of your main, but leveling roulette will see alts who don't benefit from those gearsets...

Min ilv in leveling dungeons without question needs to be enforced. I get that instances like Baelsar's Wall are not the typical dungeon, but I fail to see the point of "Git Gud" instances if the path to them is paved with scrubs allowed to be lazy. It isn't fair to the players who put in the effort to carry their own butts, and you don't need hawk eyes to see that this is causing a lot of aggravation and hostility in these instances.

I feel like with the next expansion coming out in the next little while it's gonna be about the same with gear, what they should do is give you a set of gear as you do the MSQ, like after Ultima they give you full augmented ironworks gear for your main class and so on for HW and SB leveling that way I won't get tanks with crafting rings in Doma Castle.

I've been wishing they would do this ever since SB came out. Its become a huge problem. The same can be said with people refusing to use their job stone in certain instances. I thought I had seen it all with DPS in Susano with 11k HP and a tank in Sirensong Sea with i120 gear. A while back I had a GLA (he refused to use job stone because RP) in Bardam's with the same sort of uber-crap gear who needed perfectly precasted heals to not die to tankbusters. That was a nightmare. While they're at it they could block classes from queueing for anything past 50.

I'm not certain (as I haven't been around for the release of a new expansion) but I think this is introduced when the next expansion comes out? They don't put the top level gear as rewards - I still had to purchase my Ironworks/Shire gear - but was given gear and weapons from the lower endgame tiers as I worked through the patch quests. I still only got to choose one of several sets though. The only guaranteed gift for each job is the end-of-job-quest relic gear.

The other problem with having to choose sets is that even my one choice got quickly obsolete - I thought I should get the "important" sets like Fending and Healing - only to realise that was basically a wasted reward because they were also the highest priority to upgrade to the stronger gear. It doesn't help that Heavensward gives you gear coffers rather than individual pieces - so you don't know what i-level you're being given to know if it's actually an upgrade.

Ah I see that's kind of an oversight on SE's part I think they should just give, for example if you're lvling through HW > end of SB expac you'll get the ilvl 390 set for whatever your main you choose to be they could do 3 coffers: accessories/weapon/armor that way you have a full set to carry onto the next part of 5.X and not be a detriment to yourself and dungeon mates while leveling.

I don't get why HW coffers are that way I see Hellfire sets for example for tanks since my friend came back to the game but that honestly doesn't help since the first dungeon in SB the dungeon gear is considerably higher than the gear they give you it doesn't really make sense. So I agree with you on choosing sets when it's quickly obsolete that's why I feel previous gear such as Augmented Ironworks/Aug Shire/Aug Scaevean gear is the choice to go since it'll last in the long run vs going into dungeons and possibly leveling and not having a great time.

Add me to the list of having the Heavensward and Stormblood leveling dungeons having item level requirements of some sort. I had to leave a Shisui dungeon immediately after I loaded in because the healer had all i230 gear on the left side, with exception of the i255 weapon. I just took the 30-minute penalty because I'm sick of having to ask people to get better gear or change to more appropriate item level gear at this point in the game.

Stuff like Baelsar's Wall was a expert dungeon aka. endgame dungeon and this dungeons will always get a ilvl requirement, all the leveling dungeons sadly don't because SE thinks that it is ok to have bad gear if you level, otherwhise we would've gotten a min ilvl for leveling dungeons already.
