You mean like this?! Sure, the reason stated is different and it happened after some chunk of days, but hey. It was possible to log in for a brief time here or there. Stopping auto demolition should not be impossible even for people with little time. So if the biggest attacks with most effect happened only after they did already stop the auto-demolition for a different reason, they wouldn't really add a notice about that, would they?!
Are you aware that the world doesn't revolve around the US? Because that announcement is not for the rest of the world. Especially not for Europe, as usual (even though we've had floods and dead people not that long ago, in several places), when Chaos has been the most affected datacenter by the network issues.

And I repeat, it's about the fact that it's a way to show customers that they actually care about the incoveniences, like almost every other business does, instead of telling them to go out of their way to sort out something that isn't their fault to start with (and remember who's paying here).

Yeah, I know. I just forgot about that bit after I did read it originally, so sorry on that part. I'm from Europe myself but I do play on the NA servers so I just recorded that the demolition "was off" at the time.

I know what it's about. And what I do know is that Square Enix seems to have always failed in that department as far as I remember, so I most certainly understand where you're coming from.

It was simply me poorly remembering something.
