Don't feel sorry for us, I have a feeling that Ridill will cap in the first phase of transfers. We already have a healthy population and high population of newbies, and since we are keeping our FFXI related name we will never have a shortage of XI nostalgics creating characters here.

I'm just glad the rest of the servers are getting merged together so they can hopefully begin to equal the greatness that was and is Selbina.

I didn't play XI so I had to google up the names (shame on me!). Maybe Masamune will come to such greatness too, since there are a lot of people who like VII.
Even though on the German forums, people say, newbies wouldn't choose a server 'cause of its name, but just if its tagged as "EU" or not. Me and my friends don't agree on that!

Just as I don't want people judging the entirety of Selbina off of Issachar, lets not lump Besaid and/or RPers up like that either. The only person from Besaid stirring up trouble here is Dragon.

Meh, I'm not that bad. Our friendly Besaidian here just decided to overreact is all. I'm actually alright with RPers as a demographic, having been one till around 2007 or so, but some tend to think that their doesnt stink, and get übermad when non RPers say anything about them :/

The only people I see being tense are the people from Besaid, and the only douche is Issachar and he isn't that bad once you get used to him =P

Don't worry about Masamune; as far as I can tell (from people in-game, not on the forums >_>; ), it's one of the most popular (if not the most popular) name in terms of "awesomeness." And like Murugan said, Ridill will always appeal to people from XI, even though I have my reservations about the name.

<small rant>I'm not upset with Ridill being the name because it's pretty much impossible to pick a "best" weapon and I think they did well; however, I don't feel that it's quite as iconic or likely to draw people in as Selbina was. Selbina was a sad little fishing villiage, but everyone from XI remembers it and the dunes, either with fond memories of being a noob or a solid "Uggggghhhh." Ridill, however, was something that most of us only remember as a sword that might have dropped to a veteran WAR / THF / DRK / BST / RNG / SAM after we wasted a few hours of our life getting excited every time a dragonfly popped. </rant>
