To be honest, I'm surprised SE doesn't do limited time bonus campaigns like other MMOs. Like 2x EXP, or 2x Item drop campaigns etc. Maybe the code doesn't support it (which is why they release equipment with EXP bonuses maybe?). That said, if they were able, it would be cool to run a 7 day 2x EXP, 2x Tome event where daily roulettes give 2x EXP/tomes for limited time (maybe coincide with temporary increased tome cap)
Damn, you guys in USA are lucky if you have ISP's that would give you free month(s) for service interruptions.
Here in Canada, where over 90% of the population is connected to one of our big three telecoms, we will get a "oh, sorry. Try turning your modem on and off". If it doesn't work, they may give me a credit for 1 day worth of service. That's if you didn't get a goodwill credit within the last 6 months already.
As far as SE: yes, yes, they don't OWE us anything as a their customers, TOS, etc, etc.
But as people said, it would be nice for those who were affected.
But a whole month for free is actually very excessive. I know it sucks when you have a day off, and you couldn't play this game during that time... but the overall server downtime was probably only a few hours at most.
So, if they follow suit with Canadian telecom's and follow their good-will gesture, they'd give is a day's worth of credit, AKA 49 cents (ha ha ha).

Spectrum. 3 months of free service since I provided them with logs, signal quality and other data since my Internet was absolutely attrocious. You have to get past their script readers and onto their technical staff/engineers. They knew the infrastructure needed upgrading in my area after the merger, and I was compensated for my troubles.

Fried popoto enthusiast.
Even taken at face value, how many hours of service were lost? Because you give the impression this happened several times, which is quite different than a random DDoS that took the servers down for less than an hour one day. Furthermore, you said yourself Spectrum knew their infrastructure was an issue. This wasn't a problem with SE or their infrastructure. Therefore, the two aren't comparable.Spectrum. 3 months of free service since I provided them with logs, signal quality and other data since my Internet was absolutely attrocious. I got a free month from spectrum too when we had a service interruption that lasted a couple days. Didn't even ask for it, called to inquire about it and got a free month of cable+internet. When you're nice to the ppl at the service centers they are nice back generally and if they can do something like compensation they usually do. It's when you call and raise hell that they do as little for you as they can.
I have Spectrum. Not once have I ever received free service. They upgraded our stuff too after the merger....
I still don't see it. No free months here after repeat calls.... -.-
I'm always nice, thank you however for the assumption. I've been in customer service.I got a free month from spectrum too when we had a service interruption that lasted a couple days. The only time I've ever gotten free, was when i said at the time to switch to ATT when they were Time Warner. Not that I would go back, but it worked.
All of this. That and you forgot when they try to blame your own equipment.

This is Square Enix. Not Blizzard Entertainment. Square will NEVER give you anything for free.Hi
I'm not here to blame SE, nor the people working for SE anyway. DDOS seems to be "normal" nowadays it seems, whatever the platform or the online game you're playing on. I genuinely enjoy FF14 alot since it has been release, but I gotta say that right now the situation is terrible. Just a little reminder, some people are working and obiouvsly are playing during evening to prog, farm or just play and enjoy their favorite game.
And of course some people are not working, but in the end we're ALL paying each month for that game, for that service. Hell if I know, some are even paying cosmetics items on the mogstation, premium phone apps or retainers...
As someone who's paying monthly for something that I just want to enjoy whenever I got the time, I wish as players we could get something for what is happening now.
Its only fair to give something to your customers to lower the impact on the problems the servers are having. A free month isnt much to be honest, but if you guys at SE actually respect just a little your playerbase, its more about the gesture than the money itself, taking care of it while you're fixing the problem.
Because at the end of the day, we, as players are here to enjoy the game, and nobody cares about the lags or even the DDOS.
I'll be rude, but SE, its your job, and we're all throwing each month money for it to be done.
