Disappointing to hear Aulus is confirmed dead but when he wasn't mentioned in 4.1 I feared this was the case. I honestly didn't get the impression from his final voice line that he was dying in the dungeon but whatever.

The extra red mage lore is interesting with the origins of their sword play, and knowing for sure that the 'ver' in front of all their spells stands for vermilion. Seemed like a good guess before but nice to have confirmation.

I hope they go into detail on all weapon types like they did for lances/spears. More Hingashi lore will be appreciated as I'm developing an Hingan rp alt.

I like the Lore specifically about Verflare. I have always been bummed that it wasn't an actual explosion but a cluster of explosions. I think this is also what Scatter is if you look at the animation (it's like a burst of ice/fire/lightning).


Is there anywhere where I can read/see the Volume 1 lore? The book has been on backorder for months...

Let's not forget Lore Book 1 mentions Gaius "dying a soldier's death!" But yes, Aulus is likely dead. I figured this would be the case after examining his "dead model" being physically sort of jacked into the chair with tubes and whatnot coming out of his back.

Yes but Gaius had some hints here and there, plus the fact that they wouldn't really disclose his status.
Not to mention as you said the model wasn't really leaving much to imagination, meanwhile Gaius really went away in an explosion off screen allegedly which is a common trope

Off topic but related, is there really no way to aquire lore book 1 officially anymore? (Every time I check it appears to be sold out)

There probably will be eventually. Lore Book 1 sold so many copies that it will be on it's fourth print run. We're probably in-between print runs at the moment.

That is precisely why I haven't ordered it, it's over 90 bucks to get it shipped here (not to mention my post office is notoriously bad at delivering international packages but I digress) and as much as I want it, it's kiiinda prohibitive right now. On-topic: I'm very interested in the Pre-Allagan civilizations but since they may be featured later in the game (also the ones from the 4th Astral Era), not really holding my breath.

In addition to the new information regarding Garlemald, I did particularly like the history of the Hingan region... the histories of ruling family-- (we finally have a name for their current "ruler"! Emperor Reigen!)-- and the "Shogun" family (the Mitsurugi clan) was a great read.

The slight similarities to Japan's own political history was a great touch.
