Charged 192$ for a six month subscription

I have the six month subscription, maximum retainers, and the premium companion app.

How can my sub be 192$ in the US?

This just put me in the red, and I’m unsure of what I’m able to do.

Was this the second lore book? I ore ordered that as well, but I’m unsure if they are charging for that yet. What should I do? Call customer support? Ask to know exactly what I’m paying for?

$13 x 6 months for the sub fee. $2 x 7 retainers x 6 months for the retainers. $5 x 6 months for the app.

It all maths out correctly for me at $192. What were you expecting it to be?

As for what you can do about it, nothing you can do as far as I know. Unless you contact your bank/credit card company and cancel the transaction. Which I emphatically do not recommend, as SE will likely permanently lock your FF14 account for a chargeback. The Mogstation doesn't hide your total when you make a purchase so you had to approve the amount at least once, which makes it highly unlikely that SE support will be willing to change anything for you.

My extremely curious side of me wishes there was a compilation thread where all the people with at least over five retainers post pictures of whatever the hell they're packing so bad in those retainers.

Like, I'm legit curious. I know about token bloats and mat bloat and hell even glam bloat (that one being the most popular) but I'm just super curious about the craft mats needing more than 2 or 3 retainers.

Mat hoarder here. A lot of older mats get reused for airships and submersible vehicles. Same for housing walls. Lots of mats used for culinary are used from any level and I've noticed weaver has started to do the same (as well as goldsmithing, blacksmithing and armorsmithing). I'm also a person that doesn't take joy in going out and requiring to farm an old mat I once had thousands off, but had to sell off because of limited space. One retainer is devoted entirely to holding relic/artifact gear/1 set of armor for a job come expansion so I have gear to level it in. That is where I choose that my time is better spent elsewhere and is readily fixed by a measly $2 per retainer per month ($30 at the worst for me). Instead of going out to eat with my husband just once a month, I've paid for my "super expensive" membership to an online game. Especially when a lot of my off-time is spent actually enjoying my husband's company as well as enjoying games with other friends (and going and participating in FCG tournaments).

For me, it's a decision of:
Time spent with someone I care about > time spent gathering pixels in a virtual world that would save me money per month on a subscription.

$2 per retainer × 8 retainers = $16 per month × 6 months = $96

Or is the app charged separately? Because all together, it should be $203.94 by my calculations.

If you only have 7 paid retainers then your $192 (well, $191.94) comes out right. I think with the app, though, your max paid retainers goes up to 8.

EDIT:
Ok, corrected on max paid retainers is 7. (The extra for getting the premium companion app is an extra free retainer, not an extra paid one like I thought.) So with that, let me try the math again:

6 months subscription (before adding extras) = $77.94
$2 per retainer × 7 retainers = $14 per month × 6 months = $84
Premium companion app = $5 per month × 6 months = $30
Total : $191.94

Unless they changed it recently, I believe you can only get 7 extra retainers.
