Petition To Expand Character Creator

I want to start this thread to see just how many people are in the same mindset and that it hopefully gets seen by the forums team and passed along someday.

If you are in favor of the dev team undertaking the big revamp of current models and gear, gives this post a thumbs-up/like and leave what you personally would like to see added to the creator as a reply.

I personally want variety in the body shape/weight. As it stands the only selection you get on body types/shapes is only by picking the different races.

Then my next big thing is accommodating the choice of out character being left or right handed. I know it takes a little more work than just mirroring all the animations and models but as a lefty I feel a little disconnected from playing a right handed avatar.

Significant changes in models would require significant changes to all existing equipment. All 10s of thousands of it. Not gonna happen. Anything like that kind of effort on models is gonna be going towards making entirely new races.

Delivering nothing but hair about character creation is unacceptable knowing their current capabilities.

I'd agree with this. It's worth pointing out that the FFXIV team is around 350-500 members depending on how busy the period of time, not including management (Source). That's a huge number of resources, particularly considering that FFXIV is a very established entity with presumably-optimal workflows.

Given this, and given the relatively mundane content cycle updates that we've been 'treated' to for years now, it's reasonable to expect that there's enough bandwidth to be seriously working on the game's infrastructure in order to ensure it properly supports XIV's growth into the future. In fact, it's certain they're already doing this: we've seen evidence at various points of increased capabilities (expanded Housing wards, the Glamour Dresser, inventory size expansions, DX11 graphical tweaks). The main concern in my mind is whether they're making the right decisions on what to prioritize or not. We've seen some pretty blatant whiffs from the development team when it comes to acknowledging or addressing player concerns, with Eureka being the most serious recent example. We've also seen infrastructure improvements be routed toward additional revenue streams, particularly the mobile app (extra Retainer capacity, Chocobo Saddlebag capacity, Retainer interface improvements).

We'll see where things end up. Thus far, I don't know that SE has really felt significant pressure to shake up their delivery model or really put in AAA levels of work; XIV has thrived off a rather enjoyable trip to level cap, shrugging off longer-term monotony-induced subscription losses. But the game is profitable enough that they can do more if they wanted to, and from a quality-of-game standpoint, from a customer service standpoint, they should do more.

I agree, but having more control over the facial feathure wouldn't. And tbh this is what needs to be worked on the most.

Sometimes greatness requires sacrifice. The hamsters would all die for a good cause...may their souls rest in peace. Or pieces, depending on how horribly they do die. But let's ignore those details and focus on what's important.

I just wish they'd unlock all the hair and facial hairs for everyone. They definitely need to add more faces and facial hair as well. Being a carbon copy of everyone of your race gets old. Also, I wish they would actually look at our hairstyle request thread and pick out new hairstyles from there and add more than one or two at a Time like they use to.
