    Heavensward materials still hidden?

Some Heavensward gathering items remain hidden which means they're not guaranteed on low-level nodes. Things like Cyclops Onion, Mythrite Ore, Birch Log, etc. I don't understand why this is the case when we've moved on from Heavensward as being a recent expansion, also considering ARR unspoiled nodes uncover themselves anyways.

Can this be changed so those materials are always available on those nodes?

They are not hidden. You have not gathered the materials before, so the spot will reveal as intended.
You have to gather the items for the first time for yourself at 25% gathering rate (at max stats) + buffs.
After this first time gathering they are no longer "hidden".

OP is talking about the fact that items like Cyclops Onion, Mythrite Ore, Birch Log don't show up on every node that they're tied to.

You can gather all of them on as "unhidden" on nodes in Diadem - if you have a FC-airship, just grab a friend, take that, get what you need and some extra shards and materia aswell!

It's not a new thing though. Even ARR nodes are the same with the various seeds and a few other items as well.

This map of the Diadem shows various unspoiled and legendary crafting materials as being gatherable. Things like Mythrite Ore, Birch Log and Cyclops Onion are not gatherable and some of these items are for leveling.

The only items that were affected this way were seeds, carbonized matter, chocobo racing food materials, topsoil and for some reason Black Limestone. But when these are vital to leveling/everyday crafts, it doesn't make sense. None of the items listed are relevant to leveling or everyday crafts.

The reason why this makes no sense for me is that for Stormblood, not one single item was 'hidden'. Unspoiled or Ephemeral? Sure, but that makes sense and most of those items were endgame items, but Hardsilver Ore, a Lv58 gathering item for Lv55-57 crafts being hidden? This feels like it made sense when Heavensward released so it can artifically lengthen the 'grinding' aspect, but now that Heavensward has come and gone, these items should retire their hidden status and be available full time, it's just waiting for a random node to proc it as being available to mine/log.

The hidden items in HW were all job quest items. They probably didn't like how the system turned out in practice (people still bought what they needed off the MB) so they went with the quest specific items in SB instead.

Could be programming issues that made them decide to leave the items hidden or could be they're using it to keep the value of those items inflated compared to what they'd be if we could use our level 70 skill set to farm them. Doesn't bother me either way, not that difficult to farm the hidden items when I need them and if the node doesn't have it, then I just grab crystals or something else I can use instead.

I just use my botany retainer to get those things if I don't feel like farming them myself (which really isn't that hard. I've had a harder time getting the shard seeds to pop than getting birch to show up.)

It's frustrating, but hardly seems like something that needs dev. time/resources to address.
