I need some expert help on how to play NIN at a raid level

Are there any experts here that could help me out on ninja in a raid setting? I'm willing to post my last run, though not on here - would prefer to keep my main hidden from the forums for reasons. I'm kinda stuck in a 5.3k lump on O9S and could use an expert ninja who might be able to help me pinpoint what exactly the problem is. My current ilvl is 383 and I'm willing to communicate over discord.

    Thanks in advance.

Using everything on CD, making sure you don't delay trick attack, get as many Ten Chi Jin as you can and a good dot uptime are pretty much the basics. You want to get into optimization once you got that.

Also make sure you don't overlook the issue, most people simply lose a lot of DPS because their uptime is way below what it should be, fact is that uptime has way more impact than any kind of optimization on your DPS.

    Can do on Discord Sham#0379.

This is super critical. 9/10 when people ask for help on the forums I poke through a log and see they have way, waaaay fewer actions than they should...

But yeah it's not just uptime as in, "be in melee range of the boss," it's also uptime in the idea that you need to constantly be doing stuff. There should never be a time when you just sit there thinking about your next attack, just do it. If you're not comfortable with your rotation, go to a training dummy and practice a bit. You don't want to be in a raid thinking "OK, now I should hit X ability..." then die to a boss's mechanic or something, nor do you want to be in a raid thinking "OK, the boss is going to do Y" then just not hit anything for 10 seconds for no reason. Gotta multitask!

Yeah, normally, I'd have posted my log. But I'm very protective of my main on the forums at the moment, which is why I'm asking to share my log over discord.

Once again, thanks. With the tips you gave, I did notice a good overall improvement, so I'll keep at the info you gave me.

    Hey there,

    I'm maining a NIN too.

Do you have a keybind guide for NIN as well?

Seeing that I frequently use mouse to click my actions. I might as well start learning to use more keys to improve. (My DPS isn't that high as well)

Keybinding is highly subjective to be honest, I mainly play with my keyboard using my mouse only for actions like sprint / Limit Break / Shade Shift / Invigorate.
The most important thing is that you must feel comfortable with your setup, there's no "ultimate setup" that will make you win DPS, just a good setup that allows you to use any actions without having to do some finger aerobic.

Same goes for your UI, you must enjoy it but it also needs to be optimized so you don't have to spread your focus in order to get all the informations you need.

Always be attacking, may sound silly but that goes well to most jobs. I raided last tier as Nin and had a learning curve having always been a caster)
Up time was my major area at the beginning, and i was better at the end, so just keep at it and practice alot.
Also the Balance Discord is very helpful.

Trying to avoid the Balance, actually. Had a bad issue last time I asked for help and was told to stop being a chad. Part of the reason I'm not willing to share my main on the forums.
