It's something challenging for my brain to chew on. I can't go in blind, hit the boss with my face a few times and it dies.

Because it's fun.
I don't do savage raids, but what does tickle my neck a little bit to give them a go is the challenge and the glamours. Exclusive phases to savage is also a biggie. Even though I don't feel I am there yet, once I feel like my skill level has plateaued, I won't have much choice other than to go into savage if I wish to improve further; so there's that too. I'll just never be caught up to give relevant savage raids a go if I ever did decide to pursue those hurdles.
It's something to do, and you get to push yourself on how well you can do.
If you do the 24 man raids you wonder why you always go back to it it the beginning when Savage is less stressful then dealing with so many randoms that never follow mechanics.
motivation to raid? get the mounts :P
My motivation is simple: to say I have cleared, and to be recognized as good by my own standards and my peers.
I have no motivation to raid as the gear will be replaced too quick for it to matter. I'm one of those so-called casual players though. Not to mention I don't have to stress about my skill being enough for such content.
SE made tome gear good enough for most stuff that raiding seems pointless unless you want the challenge or the vanity items to show off. In a way it's good for my life as I don't have to worry about losing progress if I don't log in all the time.
I just love (alliance) raiding.
From alliance raids, you do get loot/gear (along with music and sometimes minions). They also give you a nice amount of tomes.
I raid because I enjoy the activity. It's nicer with friends, as in my static, but I find I pug a lot as well.
The activity is a dominant factor and the rewards aren't very useful for anything other than the activity.
If you don't like the activity there won't be anything significant to get, unless you are wowed by marginally better stats and a fancy mount.
