Exactly this... totally agree.If you pick the statue, they'll just dismiss the idea because Hien is not the kind of person to be fond of such, and a NPC adds the lighthouse idea.
I had no issues with tearing down the old watchtower - heck, they have suffered who-knows-what from Garleans, they don't need a visual reminder of them for trauma.
To the OP, I also had no issue whatsoever with this and how the events played out. The reference to Hien was also justified because it really captured his main vein of character.
