Gilgamesh is dead. What's the most active overall server?

So, I am returning to the game after a few years, new account, skipped ARR, 60 boost, but I realized going back to Gilgamesh was a huge mistake. It is definitely not the hustle and bustle it used to be

Is there anything still active? Like every town, every zone, all levels?
I just love being surrounded by tons of people, helps with my lack of social interaction IRL. Even being in a large FC on Gilgamesh, it's just nothing near what it was...

So, if I transfer, where should I go?

You're not going to find a server with tons of people in every zone in any datacenter.

Balmung's usually got a very high actively-logged-in population that centers around cities and there are always new players on it (even when locked to new/transfers). And before anyone else says otherwise, yes, that's because there are RPers. And also people doing end-game raiding as well. It's diverse, even if commonly known for RP.

But even then, FFXIV just doesn't really cater to that open-world always in fields playstyle since almost everything is accessible by the Duty Finder.

Gilgamesh is far from dead. People just aren't out in the zones because there's nothing to do in them unless you're gathering mats or after hunt marks. You're like over a year late for the expansion.

From my playtime Goblin is decently populated.

But as people said most players gather around the cities or in places like Mor Dhona,Idyllshire and Rhalgar's Reach.You only find people running around mostly in recently added areas or new players running around in the Black Shroud in Gridania

But most of your interactions with players is in the duty finder since thats where the game groups you with players from both inside and outside your server of choice

I'm kinda curious, where do these people complaining about empty zones hang out in? When does this bother you?
