    I know you're not equipping the item. But still there are rules about whether a glamour is visible or not, and currently the question it asks is: "can you equip the item with this class?" (Result: relic gear is locked to the class because no other class is able to equip it.)

    The problem, then, is how is this rule applied, and in what ways can it be changed?

    If the question changes to "can you equip the item with any class you have leveled?", or remove restrictions entirely, relic gear is now able to be cross-glamoured once you raise both classes (and we assume they don't want that to happen).

    To achieve what they want, the system can't just ask that one question, it needs to recognise the relic gear as 'something special' and not just another piece of gear that is handled by the same rules as everything else.

    If they don't/can't do that, then their statements so far indicate that they would rather keep everything locked so the relic gear is 'safe', than throw open the doors and give people that option.

    I also have to wonder if at least some parts of the programming "can't see" your other classes - eg. compare the hunting log, which only marks enemies relevant to your current class, and doesn't give an indicator for anything else.

    I agree with all your points. I also find that "Taste" is a weak argument in general which is what disappointed me when Yoshi P said something about the subject.

    I'm all for people having more ways to dress up their characters.

    The thing that tilts the scales towards disagreeing with lifting the restrictions is two sided.
    On one side, people need to understand that slowly... very slowly we're being given some more freedom. On an MMO if you were given everything straight away there would be no more room for it to develop and grow on a timely manner. Players can eat through the content faster than the devs can design and implement it. That includes gear designing and implementing. With restrictions it allows them to re-use gear but swapping the classes who can wear what. It allows to buy devs time while they work on other stuff. It's frustrating at times but I can live with this.
    It aggravates me when people act like they have no choices or freedom on how they can dress their characters. With patience you will keep getting more and more choices.

    On the other hand if everyone can wear everything what would stop the devs from releasing a single set and just dye with differently and slap different stats for the different classes? I'm going to steal Gemina's term of gear identityTM (thanks).

    If gear identity is lost why waste resources designing let's say... that steampunk style from a tank's perspective? (It's part of why I have a love-hate relationship with the sky rat gear set). If SE deems it a waste of resources to have 5 people working on designing gear when you only need 1 design you can bet they'll tell those other 4 to go work on their next FF instead leaving FF14 even more starved of staff.

    Are you willing to have a lot of choice right now at the risk of sacrificing variety in the future?

    I do not want to take that risk. I do not want to give them an excuse to just spit out 1 gear set and just recolour it. For me lifting the restrictions is a lazy band-aid that can potentially limit our freedom in the future. I absolutely do not want that.

    And that's why I'm here. I like what the OP is trying to do. Some people are trying to compromise with what was given to us. I know the system is convulted and frustrating but I think requesting that Amon set as a level 1 glamour is a way to try and work with what we have right now instead of throwing a tantrum because people are not getting the gear restrictions they want due to limitations of the server / stubborness of the devs.

    Maybe Yoshi P would be less frustrated with the playerbase if we stopped acting like 3 year olds.

    That's my healer. Stop saying that you only got robes for healers. We need to stop turning everything into hyperboles. We could use more gear sets within certain styles ( military or tribal for instance) but they are not non-existant. (as much as i hate pagos at least it brought one of ARR's favorite gear sets as a lvl 1 glam set)

If they only unlock say... Amon's gear as level 1 glam, you'll get people angry about how they wanted Scylla's gear. When are we getting Scylla's gear? If they can unlock Amon why can't we get X, Y, and/or Z? A drip feed will not solve the overarching problem and increase item bloat quite badly.
    I am not sure how they would pick and choose what gear is worthy of being unlocked.

    (I don't even like Amon's hat. It's just the first thing I could think of.)

    Can we Please for the love of God get a dyable version of the Wild Rose set... seriously... every other reward set is dyable except that one... There is even an NPC in the Eureka Storyline who has a recolored version of the top... PLEASE GOD!

    Also, I stand on the side that everything aside from AF should be glamour unlocked, this is including Crafter/Gather gear. Personally I wouldn't really care if the AF was equippable by every class, as long as it was after the patch that it is relevant. You earned it, why not be able to glam it. I know I'm contradicting myself, just saying if they did (which they won't) I wouldn't be mad. I do like that the AF is "special" .
