Not all too hooked on graphics either myself. However, SE is well known for being "graphics" nuts, and really, if so many people out there care about the graphics these days? It would be rather dumb for them to risk having those people drop the game, for something prettier on the horizon.

It's just a fact of the business these days. Graphics matter more than some people care them to, myself included.

WoW recieves an overhaul of its systems every expansion. There's no reason SE couldn't do the same as big as they are. Absolutely no reason.

To be fair, FF XIV is probably one of the nicest looking MMOs out there, but the cracks have been seen for awhile and continue to grow and the game is being help together by pieces of tape. Not even strong tape either.

FFXI Net code was based on dial up. They important that net code and said oo we need more then 56k can give so you need high speed to play FFXIV. The net code is so old. I look at Games like WOW and ESO and the net code is so much better. SE already reworked and has opitmized the net code a few times.

But a ground up rework would be great but then other things would need to be reworked too and I'm not sure they are willing to put in all that much time.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.

The original intention of FFXIV 1.0 was to have very large zones with no loading times. Instead of going through a gate and waiting for an instance to load you would seamlessly walk through. Technically amazing. Very taxing on the server.

has a good example of what it was like. I doubt in the 18 months development time they had they could fix all the problems they had. I am under the assumption this problem is still around just well hidden away by the segmentation they did,. The question is how much they can drag out of the game if they manage to rework the networking backbone. It is indeed a pain to do. But it would in the long term benefit the game a lot.

Yep, agreed ofc. I like nice graphics as much as the next person, it just doesn't sway me from playing something is all. However, in this game, ya, the cracks stick out rather blatantly, because of the clash between very nice assets, and then very poor assets.

I wouldn't complain if SE did some rework and raised the requirements. It's just part of the reality these days. Online games, go through improvements, and requirements increase with them.
