Yeah, Mendacity and Genesis tomestones will be your best friends atm. The pre-4.4 dungeons should drop a decent amount of Mendacity with each run, and there's no limit to how much of those tomes you can grab in a week, though you can only carry up to about 2000 at a time before having to cash in to grab more. Once you've unlocked both the current Ivalice 24-man raids, you can run those for not only more tomes and gear, but also to collect coins when you complete them. One coin each from both Rabanastre and Ridoranna will let you trade for one Mendacity gear upgrade item that'll let you trade them and the respective pieces of gear for the augmented i370 versions. You can only get a maximum of 450 Genesis tomes per week, but these can be traded at Rhalgr's for i390 gear. The normal Omega raids can also drop parts to be exchanged for gear as well. Deltascape and Sigmascape normal gear is a bit dated at this point, but you'll need to clear both tiers to have access to Alphascape normal, and you can trade those parts for i380 gear. The fights might be a bit tougher than typical story bosses, and you can only win one part per fight, per week, but it's not too bad really. Also you'll need to beat Alphascape V4 at least once a week for seven weeks if you want access to the i390 weapon (if you don't do savage raiding that is).
It seems like a lot at first, but you'll be getting tome bonuses with each new dungeon/boss clear. Once you clear the latest story dungeon and St. Mocianne's Arboretum Hard you'll also have access to Expert roulette, which has a very generous bonus to Genesis tomes. You can trade hunt seals for lower-tier former tome gear, but it's probably not worth it. If you're serious about hunting, the tomestones you get from that should already help supplement you towards more recent gear. Also, lv. 70 gazelle maps as well as Eureka can be alternatives to gaining tomestones. Basically, you have a lot of options, but your easiest route will be collecting tomestones for gear trades, and Mendacity is probably the fastest method of getting entry-level ilevels for the current patch content.
