    Where to go next ?!

    Hi Guys,

Need a little bit of guidance on what content I should look to do for my lv.70 SAM, I've completed the MSQ up until 4.0 so I still have the quests to do up until 4.4, but some of that content is locked behind an iLvl limit, Skalla is iLvl 300 & i'm currently sitting at an average of 287 so I can't progress on that side of things.

I've unlocked the Beast Tribe stuff from the SB content so I can use those quests along with the daily roulettes to level up my NIN which is sitting at lv.62 with all the Augmented Shire gear, I also made a trip to Eureka.... won't be heading back there in a hurry.

So, i'm guessing my best options are to run the 3 iLvl 280 dungeons available which drop iLvl 300 gear, which then will hopefully let me get into Skalla & the Deltascape Raids too ? And i'll be getting the Tomestones from the quests which i'm thinking of putting towards the Ryumyaku set ?

I'd also like to try a crafting class, but honestly have no idea where to start !? This is the first MMO I've really got into, so advice is very welcome lol !!

    Hey there,

A quick way to increase your iLvl would be to buy a crafted item from the market board (Or get a friend to make one if you know any crafters), this would allow you to continue the story chain if you're locked behind a dungeon and can go no further. Alternatively running the dungeons you have access to upgrade as you suggested yourself. Also tomestones. If you're collecting Mendacity by running dungeons you should have a nice little pile you can exchange in Ralghas for some nice gear that will last a while. Make sure you don't neglect doing tirals either.

Once you've gotten past at least 305 iLvl make sure you unlock the raid The Royal City of Rabanastre. This will allow you easy access to iLvl 330 gear.

If you're only just starting to do crafting I highly recommend leveling them up all at the same time as they have cross class skills that come in handy. But be warned crafting is a huge time sync and not for the faint heated.

Thanks for the response !!! I was thinking of buying gear, however anything "decent" runs for a good amount of gil....something I've not got a great deal of which is another thing I need to learn how to generate, i'm guessing crafting will help in that department ?

I don't mind running the dungeons though to be honest, it's letting me get used to my rotations & trying to best learn my skills & boss mechanics !! There's still so much to learn it's crazy !!!

When you say levelling up all crafting classes at the same time, you mean all 8 ?

I do indeed mean all 8 at the same time. Plus Gathering (MIN/BOT/FSH). Would be the best and cheapest way to go. Crafting classes have good cross skills abilities (Hasty Touch for example is an excellent early cross class ability that once learned through CUL can be used in every crafting class from level 15). The first 15 levels in all crafting classes are easy as the resources required can be bought from the crafting guilds. The items made and sold back will cover the cost of those materials and you should end up with a slight profit. If you know someone who can craft you could get them to make you some "levekits". This will pretty much boost you along the crafting route up to 50 very easily.

Raw materials can be a good quick way to make gil, try silver ore if you can mine it as it is used in low level crafts and end game crafts.

Also make sure you're leveling up your retainers and sending them on ventures to bring back extra goodies.

If you know anyone who plays tank / healer you could dungeon grind a lot faster as they can pop the queue for you. Hopefully you're in a good FC that can help you out and get you geared. If there is a crafter within the FC see if they will craft you items if you bring them the materials. The rare components are usually bought with Tomes and so that could reduce the cost.

I'll look into the crafting side once once I've got my NIN to lv.70 too, but thank you for the advice ! I'll look to start all of them together !!

I only recently got the game to play with friends, one was a tank & the other a healer, however I've flown past them both regarding my level & they don't manage to get on that much, so i'll look to join an FC, I've had a few invited in-game, but not really accepted any as I wasn't sure of how it all works, again it's something I really need to look into !!

Thanks again for the advice, much appreciated !!

For looking to joining a Free Company you can have a look through the World Section on the forums or the sub reddit FFXIVRECRUITMENT.

Free Companies can give you buffs. Depending what two they have activated and you're missing out on that if you're not in one already.

Ideally you would be looking for a Free Company that has access to rank 3 buffs (And is usuing "The Heart of Battle 3" as a daily one) as well as a large mansion with the 8 crafting benches for your use. (These will give a bonus to crafting and make the process slightly easier. Only large mansions can hold all 8 crafting benches though).

Alternatively you have a look at the Free Company standings for your server and look at the top 100. This will give you a good indication of the more active ones compared to the thousands who are empty shells.

A medium house plus a private chamber within that house also works, as they can hold 6 and 2 respectively.

I'm not certain, but I think a small cottage plus two people's private chambers would work if they're opened for use by the rest of the FC (provided that giving people access includes giving them the ability to use crafting benches — that's the part I'm not certain of).

In the sort of small close-knit FC where everyone can be given decorating privileges, a small cottage with four crafting benches placed in the house with the other four in the storage room also works, as it's possible to just swap them around as needed so that whichever one you currently want to use is among the placed ones. (That's what my FC currently does.)

I'd like to add you can also do the daily/weekly HW and SB hunts to get Centurio seals. These seals can be exchanged for i310 gears at Rhalgr Reach, near the hunt board. I think there are i330 gears (was previously creation tome gear) as well but I'm not in game to check. This should help boost your ilevel to unlock Skalla and more stuff for your tome/gear farming.

I had not thought of this! An excellent idea indeed.

Since you're Lv70 be sure to do your daily roulettes as your lv70 for mendacity tomes. You sacrifice the chunk of exp you can get on a leveling class but in exchange you get the tomes you need to improve your 70 class(es)

Use those tomes to buy the i360 gear (or i390 if you build up enough genesis)
Start by replacing the lowest ilvl gear you have just to get your avg ilvl over the i300 hump.

After that run the 70 dungeons for i300-345 gear (depending on your ilvl) to slowly build up your ilvl along with getting more mendacity and genesis tomes.
You can also hop into deltascape and the 24m to break up the dungeon runs. There is also eureka if you dont mind the grind to up your job gear a little bit.
