I think I just put the death nail in this thread because your realizing I'm right and run out of ways to argue so your leaving.I found you funny(in a OmgWhatsThisDumbassGonnaSayNext kinda way) but now you talk just to hear yourself talk, I do my sanity a favor and ignore list you now. I hope you find peace where ever you end up.. but I feel terribly sorry for whatever server you end up representing
/comfort said server

Sorry for trolling you (but god you take it so serious).

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~
For somebody who doesn't know me at all, you really seem to care about what server I end up on. If you want to play with me after the server merge, stay on Balmung, otherwise, see ya!Eh, if thats what she wants to do man, whatever.. I think she's not really taking things into account. I've tried to show her my logic but it seems to go over her head.. I'll give it one last go tho..
Molly you have 10 server to choose from. (yes you have a choice)
Ridill - Normal (but possibly full)
Masamune - Normal
Durandal - Normal
Aegis - Normal
Gungnir - Normal
Sargatanas - Normal
Balmung - (Unofficial) RP
Hyperion - Normal
Excalibur - Normal
Ragnarok - EU
You currently sit on a normal server, you are opting to move to a different type of server, like it or not, the culture there is different from what you and your members are use to. This will ensure some form of change, that may be positive it may be negative.. I don't really know but that equates some level or risk of a negative outcome for the people of your shell. I'm sure everyone in there isn't as keen as you are about roll play. (There are players who hate Besaid and have posted here. Some have upwards of 80 people on their blacklist because of this single issue that makes Besaid different.) A safe and logical course of action would be to choose one of the 7 servers that will have predictable play environment for you and your shell mates. Despite all the nice things people say almost everyone seems to agree that you hardly notice the RP there. Key word.. "hardly". Words matter. In many of their posts in defense of Besaid they have indeed confirmed it is not a normal server. Likewise you'll receive as much love from anywhere else I'm sure, just because people on Besaid are nice, doesn't mean they aren't just as nice everywhere else as well.
So your course of action is one of two. Stay or move. Let's evaluate the merits of both.
If you stay some various people who are indecisive, or unaware of what they are getting into may opt to stay on Fabul (note: *everyone* you play with now will not remain on Fabul, so you "loose people" either way.). If you leave you will have a predictable play experience concurrent to the one you are use to.
So the question I proposed to you before was.. since you decided to stay.. what were the merits of that decision of not you but your shell as a whole. You said you placed it to a vote.. but did you actually talk about the points I'm bringing up here? "My friends are staying and so am I." sounds like a plan of apathy to me.. it sounds like they either don't understand there is risk involved or can't come to a decision at all.
btw, this might rock your world, shhhh... I'm a man'qote.

TLDR: To any that seem uncertain about Balmung, please note that as someone who was looking forward to RP, I have onlycome across seven RP encounters over my 15+ months. And I've been blogging in-character and baking cookies to fill the void.
Extended:
It seems like RP is super scarce on the server (to me anyway). Since launch, I think I've come across a number of RP situations that I can actually recall what they were about.
1) Someone asked for directions to Camp Drybone and spoke to me about being Keeper of the Moon.
2) Made buffalo leather straps for someone in Camp Drybone, a nervous miqo'te marauder and her hyur thaumaturge mentor, believe they were looking to make a bronze war axe.
3) Two people started roleplaying in Gridania airship docks while I was crafting before airships were implemented, did not participate.
4) Some people hanging out at Ul'dah inn while I was at retainer, did not participate.
5) Some people hanging out at Ul'dah inn while I was at retainer again, did not participate.
6) An encounter with an elezen armorer at Camp Horizon while waiting for a behest.
7) Encountered some folks in Limsa Lominsa and only needed to go there one more time for a quest.
This is over the course of 15+ months, this is the RP that I have come across on the unofficial RP server. And never forced on me. To me, those aren't such bad odds if players do not want to participate (one RP jam session every two months). And if those players needed to be blacklisted, one would be blacklisting up to 13 players (which only five are active).
I personally don't think it's worth migrating 40+ linkshell off of Balmung to avoid 13 players.
(Which is also why I didn't see a large negative impact at flagging a server official RP if it meant a few dozen roleplayers joined over the hundreds of non-roleplayers who would come to the server regardless).
If one looks at the Besaid blogs, they'll notice, most of these players are just blogging in-character, but I have not seen them in-game. Maybe they just like writing with the Eorzea theme more than playing the game (or not at their gaming computer), who knows?
P.S. I've been reporting this thread before it reached ten posts, but it seems only a CM or moderator can kill it. Edit: The "Holy Crap" thread created today has been destroyed.

It was merely incidental because I've already done the work developing my own reasons for moving. Later I was curious what you thought about things to see if you have thought of things I didn't.
You kinda dodging that too Molly.. but thats ok.
I have a feeling SE is gonna have an event that involves Role-playing as a means to win a RL prize just to spite all the anti-rp.
Dodging what? I don't need to explain myself. I'm kinda looking forward to the occasional RP encounter. Frankly, the chat in /s will be a refreshing change.
Here's a thought for you: I'm looking forward to all the trolls, jackasses, and elitists leaving Balmung because of some irrational fear of RPers.

Just cause someone decides to walk away from a pointless argument that is going nowhere doesn't mean you win... Honestly you lost that fight before it even began. The one who realizes it pointless and walks away is the "winner".

Besaid IS a perfectly normal server. Anyone who doesn't believe so, please roll up a new character and come play with us.
Also, you might be surprised to know that other servers have role-players too, including Fabul. It's not like they only play on Besaid.
I mean really... You talk like there is a chance Fabul players might become infected with some terminal disease. This conversation has gone from amusing to insane in my opinion.
That's about 7x the amount on Fabul then. Again I can't define the amount of risk, only that I don't take risks I don't have to. There is also a thought that RP's from other servers will move to Balmung.. this is the greatest fear I think people have.It seems like RP is super scarce on the server (to me anyway). But mostly to your last point because I'm getting tired of it all. Square-Enix is a corporation and they are as slow and as bureaucratic as any. No individual has a choice to shut it down unlike a private forum. ..and .. it's not really in violation of anything.. far as I can tell. They are modding it, I've seen individual posts removed.
SE may actually be interested in it seeing the strife it causes and would be more apt to give you the holy grail you seek, the RP tag. Initially I didn't think that was a good idea, but you people are very passionate about it (for some reason) so maybe you should have it after all.
I had fun trolling you all and I'm sure people had lots of fun hitting back at me. Yes, I was over the top on purpose because you just so passionate about it. Try to laugh it off and don't take things so personal.. especially on the internet. Where as I find RP pretty lame, and I do understand it quite well, it's ok because my opinions don't affect you. Your free to continue just as you were.. don't be so self conscious ok.
