Well when your hobby is notorious for being obnoxious and pretentious...I mean, a good deal of RPers think they're a breed above others, holier-than-thou, or just plain more intelligent. Is it any wonder why people shun you?
Yuri, every RP'er will flock to Balmung like fleas and this is what Balmung will be like. >>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_ekugPKqFwBesaid + Fabul = EWWWWWW!!!!
As it wasnt enough having a bunch of elitists, dicks, inconsidered unthankfull a-holes, backstabbers, botters, idiots, posers, mentaly ill poison filled people,
pretencious knowitalls, polititians and other crap foam of human beings we gonna have RPers too????????
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is this impression I receive of FF11 and FF14 gamers toward the other MMO communities.
That somehow their community is more mature, respectful, elite, or intelligent. When really, they're all the same. Good eggs and bad eggs in every community trying to enjoy one of their hobbies. The good lumped in with the bad.
Where gaming is the mother hobby. Playing MMORPGs a subset. Playing FF14 a subset of that. And someone from WoW hears a bunch of FF14 beta testers bashing a game he happens to enjoy. WoW gamer has bad impression of FF14 gamers, wants the game to fail to get back at them.
And then RP, folks who share a common language outside the target language, or other beliefs are subsets of that game's population. And though they have something in common, they're not united by it. Still differences of opinion, conflict, or elitism within each group.
Guilt by association or similarity I suppose.
Right, all RPers are pretentious and stuck up. Just like all black people are criminals, every jew wants your money, every mexican is lazy, and every american is an asshole. This is what we like to call stereotypes, and they don't tend to apply to everyone in a group. Or even to the majority of that group in a lot of cases.
Not everyone from Selbina is mean. D=
Theres a difference between being mean and being embittered for being treated like a sheep during my time on Besaid for choosing not to RP.
How I handle said bitterness might not be the best course, but you'd be mad too if you were kicked out of parties for not being a roleplayer, or refused to have gear repaired because you weren't a roleplayer, or the like. As much of a troll I can be at times, there's always a pinch of truth in what I say. FFXI RPers weren't nearly as bad as this incarnation's.
And I don't think I'm half as douchey as some people who frequent these forums.
To the nice RPers out there: I'm sorry you have to take the flak because of how many of your peers treat people. I'm not targetting you at all.

The vocal majority makes you seem that way, thats the problem. Its a stereotype for a reason. And its being proven with every post that bashes anyone who doesnt fully go along with everything RPists are demanding.Right, all RPers are pretentious and stuck up. Just like all black people are criminals, every jew wants your money, every mexican is lazy, and every american is an asshole. Really? 18 pages of people arguing over the merits, or lack thereof, of RPing, and generalizations of people that do? Really?
