i'm not really up to snuff on how you RP in an MMO. i thought if you were playing a role playing game, you kinda already were role playing. but if i was to guess what role playing is, is it this:

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death.

I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. Everyone I know who RPs keeps it and things like party or endgame separate unless something is set up to be in character.

That is a quote of the Night's Watch oath from the book series A Song of Ice and Fire, or TV show Game of Thrones if you don't read.

Role Players don't usually RP books, TV shows or movies, they tend to stick to the lore of the game they're RPing in which adds depth and immersion to the game for themselves and those around them, which is the reason I always play on RP servers in MMO's even though I don't RP. I love watching the stories people come up with.
