I was expecting it to be more dynamic and have more depth then just either farming Boss-FATEs/Hunts or swarms of regular mobs.
I was expecting having more to do in it other then farming Boss-FATEs/Hunts or swarms of regular mobs, like objectives/quests or party-only fights (like XI's Burning Circles), maybe some gathering or crafting, or some other stuff.
I was expecting the dev team to take inspiration from XI's more interesting content, like its end-game content, not its leveling content (Valkrum Dune's EXP parties).

Yep, pretty much. Not much else that needs to be said really.

I think I was expecting like a mini-world of sorts, to explore and quest in with a higher degree of dangers to the player and being punished accordingly. I was expecting dailies, sure. Maybe an emphasis on exploration and mini-bosses/world bosses that pop up periodically that probably required trekking through something akin to an open-world mini-dungeon. I wasn't expecting another F.A.T.E. slog-fest that you can't even play with friends unless you're super close in level and still progress. Knowing relic was going to be synonymous with Eureka, I was hoping you could progress the weapon with some sort of reasonable result to show for it at any moment you'd like (say months from when it debuts).

Didn't think any of the above would have been too much to ask for or expect. I was wrong.

I concur. Anemos and Pagos maps are nice, but it really feels like they forgot to put playable content in there. Am I really supposed to just wander around and kill mobs with inflated hp and damage that are just minding their own business?

Where are daily quests? Alternative methods of levelling that give some sense to the map and incentivize exploration? Where are player or party specific quests? How is it acceptable that any interesting reward from pagos is a ridiculously rare drop from a fates/lootboxes? They created a nice map and did absolutely nothing with it.

I got way too hyped and expected way too much.

I was expecting a combination of their previous successful content with added experimentation. Daily questing of the beast tribes, a dash of hunt marks, a splash of treasure hunting, all set on a big semi-randomly generated map, like an outdoor version of the deep dungeon.
With gear being rather linear I couldn't see the point in relic armor, I thought maybe some added experimentation might happen there. Decent ilvl would just be a bonus for outside Eureka, but the main purpose would be upgrading it so you can slot more special unique Eureka only abilities.

As you can imagine, I was slightly disappointed.

Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.

But now I'm just wondering what exactly did I think eureka was going to be? I was imagining going there with my friends and picking up dailys we could do as a group, new resources to be harvested, and just generally more things that might matter outside of eureka. And then I realized what I expected was the the isle of Quel'Danas from the Burning Crusade. And maybe that was an unfair thing to expect? I don't know but i wanted to post this somewhere now that the idea is rattling around my mind.
Something with actual exploration and definitely not an instanced area with fates with an alternative leveling system that makes no sense and is only here to be a timesink.

Hm I was expecting a map full of different things to do which mostly should have been done solo or at least with a level synch.

Finding treasure chests (without some strange bunnies) all over the map while you explore it. Maybe even find some riddles or lore along the way. An interesting and good story line about the isle and about Krile. Maybe they could have also introduced us to a new version of hamlet defense. (Building up the places with crafters and gatherers and defend them with fighters.) You could still have hard monsters that can randomly spawn for huge rewards. Give us daily or unrestricted amount of quests for different jobs. And at least maybe some new mini games.

Just a new zone with lots of stuff to do, which also could have been used for testing content out. But I did not expect a worse Diadem with brain dead monster killing and fate farming. (And that new system was kinda useless too)

Imagine what a poll could have done for their Eureka development...
I agree they need to poll players But putting a mandatory questionnaire on the launcher isn't the way to do it even just a single multiple choice question. If you do that a lot of people will basically just click the first option and hit go without actually reading the question totally invalidating results. Really no different to how people just scroll through the t&cs or the forums cookie policy not reading it just looking for the accept button..

The other issue is that approach would only take feedback from active players. When what they should be doing is asking the inactive ones as well. Especially if many of them stopped playing because of eureka. They're input would actually be more valuable from a business perspective than those who still play..
