I consider job level boost to be cheating. I did everything from the beginning.

    News flash ....

You say you are the leader of an RP guild. You might want to get off your holier-than-thou attitude and stop stroking your ego, @Super_Bee_Brian. It's more than likely the reason no one wants to be in your guild let alone your presence, and why many have you on ignore.
    Dude, it was a joke.

This is the kind of joke you have with a close friend, not a complete stranger.

Hence why you jumped around me and hung around like you were trying to get a rise out of me.

Shared it with my FC, and we checked your search info. Let's just say we all had a big laugh at it and you.

Funny how it's all of a sudden a 'joke' when it comes to light what you did. /shrug

I dont tank, but have friends who do all the time. The disparity could be different levels in tank experience and patience from the others. Some who tank religiously and well could be extra critical of you, because they know you’re “doing something wrong”. Some could see you doing bad but not care. Some could just not know anything about tanking at all and think “well I didn’t take mobs to the face so they must be good. PLAYER COM!”. Happens all the time.

But even with my VERY limited tank experience, I know you’re doing something wrong. You SHOULD be using shield lob. There’s no reason not to. You should make use of your full kit, not just a small portion of it. And that can be said for all jobs really.

Edit: and don’t mistake getting commendations as a “good job!” Or “this tank is so good” because comms have various meanings. Could be a “good job”, but also be “I like their name”, “oh, they seem nice”, “your glam is awesome”, “I feel pity for you”, “I don’t know who to give it to, so I’ll just give it to one of the most obvious choices regardless of skill”, “your character is so good looking”, or my favorite “you’re wearing my favorite color!” -gives comm-. Getting commendations doesn’t mean you did a good job, so don’t use getting them as an excuse not to play better/properly.

Not to sound mean about this but...if someone starts complaining that I accidentally lost ONE mob to overaggro and suddenly they get all pissy, I simply tell them to replace me.......I mean it's not like there's a huge lack of tanks right?

Seriously they should be glad a tank is able to, well, tank and survive, more props if it's able to survive and help the team in crutch situations.

But complaining for silly reasons requires silly measures, so I hope they'll enjoy waiting in a queue for X minutes and possibly ruin their run because "of that ONE single mob that he didn't aggro JUST right"

But in all sincerity, as long as your team DOESN'T DIE - no matter what the reason - this kind of discussion is to be mandatorily ignored. You live? good, now move forward.
If you let them die then, well, that's a different story.

    this should help you

    https://media.discordapp.net/attachm...48/BlnLLeX.png

If you're using the standard controls your right mouse button is your best friend, while holding your right mouse button you can turn 180 degrees and run from an AOE in a fraction of a second. Practice holding your right mouse button and doing a 180 degree turn, back and forth until your comfortable with the short flicking motion. Being able to dodge every AOE is one of the essential parts of being a tank. I never let go of my right mouse button in a boss fight. The second is keeping the enemies facing you and not your enemy. What I usually do is use my enmity AOE ability to pull aggro on the group of monster once. Then i run forward and turn around so the monsters are now facing me and not my party. Then i use my enmity aggro ability one or two more times then i focus on doing damage. Although, really as a tank doing damage is the last thing you should be thinking about. Leave that to your DPS party members. You might speed things up a little bit putting out as much damage as you can but really it's completely unnecessary. Another thing that I think is really important is asking questions. Any time you go into a boss fight you aren't 100% familiar with you should ask your party members if there's anything you need to know. Then, once you understand these fights you should always take a moment to explain to the party members what you'll be doing and what they should be doing. You should also try to always be attacking the same monster that your DPS party members have targeted, this will reduce the number of monsters attacking you faster which will make the fight easier on the healer. Obviously sometimes that's impossible each of your party members may target a different monster so the best you can do is choose the one that seems to be dying the fastest. Another thing which may benefit you, i know with warrior which is my class i have attack abilities that have the side effect of restoring my health a little bit. Once you've established aggro using attack abilities that restore your health repeatedly can help ease the stress that's put on your healer. A good tank is really the leader of the party, you're the first one to attack, you need to manage the position and attacks of the bosses, be ready for every AOE, and most importantly you need to be able to hold your own. Using your defensive abilities at the right moments so you can survive while your healer attends to themselves or the DPS is what will separate you from the decent tanks to being a good tank. Managing your defensive buffs and abilities that can give you some health could be the difference between you needing a raise and you controlling the fight. One more thing that I've been told will help you improve a lot is playing a healer. Being the healer will make you aware of everything the tank is doing, then you can understand what you want the tank to do, and you can apply that to yourself.

The lesson there is to only prank your friends. Or makes jokes with them in your case.

Anyway. I don’t have any advice that people haven’t already given.
