Revisiting the Wandering Minstrel's old song

If you talk to the Wandering Minstrel in Mor Dhona, he always takes you into a cutscene and plays a song, he thinks its about the Seventh Umbral Calamity... but is it really? It goes as follows

Ne'er til land consumes sun can sea bear moons
Heavens spew Crimson flames, Hells seep black dooms

Stray seeds quicken in ash's grey embrace,
Valiant blades forged under the Twelves good grace
.That part does seem to be about the calamity, though it could be about Papalymo, given that it is in the vicinity to the so called 'Crimson' areas, but is it a coincidence that the poem mentions the expansion themes up to presumably 5.0?

Seven waning moons see seven suns rise,
Divine order roils, fallen corpses writhe

Souls from aether far, strangers from strange lands,
Yester with thine eyes, morrow by thine hands.
That could refer to the WoL like he says, but 'from aether far' makes me think Warrior's of Darkness

That's the seventh verse of the Divine Chronicles of Mezaya Thousand-Eyes, a prophecy about the cycle of the Calamities that (allegedly) predicted the coming disasters. It was believed that there were only six and that the world was safe ... until the seventh verse was discovered.

The Circle of Knowing considered themselves "exegetes" (that is, those with an academic proclivity for exegesis; studying and interpreting scripture) and sought to use the verses as a manual to warn about and forestall the coming Seventh Umbral Era.

Seeing as the seventh verse showed up with Urianger in mid-1.0, and that the main scenario basics are "only" planned out two years in advance (or thereabouts), (imho) what you've stumbled upon is less likely a direct foreshadow and more likely a recurring theme in tone and phrase that pretends to be one sometimes.

    That said...speculate, speculate, speculate.

That is true, it wasn't likely intended as a foreshadow, but I do wonder if they purposely followed those themes stated, either way its cool, and could add credibility to the theory the next expansion's colours are violet and black.

They always said they have a general idea of the story direction. It is possible that they had the themes already ready for the main story

So 6 elemental calamities (Earth, fire, wind, water, lightning, ice).

The 7th was all elements (or I think solar aether gathered from Dalamud)?

What element would the 8th be? Lunar Aether? Are they gonna pull a Lunatic Pandora/Lunar Cry on us?

Funny that you mention this since the FFVIII anniversary is upon us
