    Materia on gear should sync to level, not ilvl

    Title.

    It seems really dumb that in different tiers of lvl 70 content you're missing out on hundreds of stats just because your gear syncs to a lower ilvl.

    This wouldn't be an issue if instead of syncing to ilvl, it synced to actual level. That way, if you're in level 70 content, your level 70 materia would apply.

    It wouldn't be game breaking at all, if anything you're hurt by not having your materia count when you're synced.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    I totally agree with that one. It should also drop the materia to a lower grade if you're synced down to a level or ilvl below the minimum for the melded materia. So if you went into something like Sirensong Sea, any grade VI would just become V temporarily.

    Or just syncing stats number to a certain value?
    So if you have 2334 strength for example it syn to 2300 strength ... whatever the value that is set for each sync stuff.
    Though that's probably too much work

    Agreed.

    Especially with crafted gear being penta-meldable and Eureka gear having 5 slots, it makes no sense that your materia melds are then worthless in the greater majority of content.

    There's no reason to do this. The dungeons have hard stat caps and you generally hit those caps even without those materia stats.

    That’s true(and I do meld strength on right side) but at least with strength we have what’s on the gear, with direct hit everything gets ignored since it’s materia only.

    The whole deal with ignoring materia on level-synced gear has always seemed like lazy coding to me. Much easier just to ignore the materia than try to downgrade it! If there's a reason they did it this way aside from laziness, they have not made it clear, and I'd love for them to step up their coding game and do it right.
