We don't seem to actually see a lot of that in Doma. The main samurai we see are Hien and Gosetsu, who don't seem to wear samurai armor like this.

As far as Deltascape goes I don't think much thought went into that other than 'hey let's make a tier of eastern style armor for this raid since there's a lot of eastern stuff in this expansion.'

Anything useful in the 'Doman' gear from HW? I'd have to go check after work, I don't remember personally liking any of those sets and I forget what they look like. Proably another no go like the pvp gear.

MSQ roulette says hi. Nothing in this game is set in stone and "it is therefore it will be" is not a viable support to anything.

I agree. I think I wouldn't be so hung up on this topic if they had just made more eastern style armor sets. Stormblood just has so many armor sets, and yet so few have anything to do with the setting of the expansion.
For reference, this is the Doman Steel Tabard of Fending.

    About as asian as poutine.

But that is a Tabard of Fending made of Doman Steel and not a Steel Tabard of Fending in Doman style.
All crafted and vendor gear has (mostly) a material as prefix before the type of gear and an sufix of the job categors it is for.

I agree, but if something HAS been in place for a while like that, I don't think it's likely to change it. Dyable gear is just a carrot to keep people going. If they let you dye the normal mode raid gear, that's one less incentive to get people to try savage. If they let you dye the tome gear right away, that's one less reason to get you into alliance raids to get weekly tokens. Unless they have more art resources to make more armor sets going forward I think it's unlikely they're going to suddenly allow the normal mode to be dyable. Same reason you had to do Eureka to get dyable AF3, it was a means of getting people into that content. The changes regarding alliance raid rolling rules didn't remove incentive to run any content, it just made targeting a job to gear out int he instance more frustrating if other jobs rolled on your job's gear, so they changed it back.

Comparing this formula they've stuck to for several raid tiers being changed to a sudden change in loot rules to another form of content that was quickly revoked due to unpopularity seems unlikely to me. If they were going to make normal mode raid gear dyable because of complaints, I would think they'd have done that way before now.

Now that doesn't mean 100% it can't change and never will, but it does strike me as being significantly less likely.

What's going to far? By my knowledge Minions & Mounts and all that stuff are only obtainable in EX anyway (ruling out the few minions you can get in some dungeons) > mostly talking about endlvl here.
As for the max ilvl weapons at each tier you don't need it outside Ex, Savage, Ultimate, etc.
It's the same thing as dye-able gear if you want it then do Savage. Imo I would be fine with allowing normal gear dye-able instead but keeping max ilvl to Savage only.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

@RareItems, pretty sure that a broad statement without much proof, regardless if you want it dyeable then do savage. That’s the incentive for clearing it along with the ilv.

i don't really bother with the final tier since relics and all

i just think it would be nice if people had alternatives that's all
but i guess there are people who dont want that
One of my tank friends got the chest and it looks pretty damn bad on female mi'qote, you know, like 90% of the playerbase xD. Pretty sure he glamoured over it.

Regarding the topic at hand... I don't think it'd be a super huge problem if NM gear was dyeable. If you do savage you're still going to get savage version of gear, no one is gonna say "oh I already have the NM version dyed so I'll pass on this". No. You're still gonna get the higher level gear.

As for incentive, tbh I'd rather not raid with a person whose only concern is to get dyeable gear. To use "incentive" as a reason for not allowing NM versions to be dyed is shaky at best. Of course I say this as a person who doesn't particularly care for the glamour game (when I do glamour I do it the old way, glamour toilet is too confusing lol) so I'm slightly biased I suppose.

Spend less time RPing and more time clearing and you can have a dyeable set. xD
