Let me put this in perspective (cause I cant believe this is on page 5):

"I beat Ultima Weapon regular, so I should be allowed to purchase the glowing UwU weapon. It's not fair that I have to play a harder version of the fight for this piece of glamour I want."

At the moment if you want the dyeable versions, you have to do savage raids to get them xD.

actually im just throwing out ideas
i don't really care for savage gear in SB its been pretty lack luster or just bad imo

i do savage just to save me some current tomes because i like to play a lot of jobs
i don't really bother with the final tier since relics and all

i just think it would be nice if people had alternatives that's all
but i guess there are people who dont want that

One of my tank friends got the chest and it looks pretty damn bad on female mi'qote, you know, like 90% of the playerbase xD. Pretty sure he glamoured over it.

Regarding the topic at hand... I don't think it'd be a super huge problem if NM gear was dyeable. If you do savage you're still going to get savage version of gear, no one is gonna say "oh I already have the NM version dyed so I'll pass on this". No. You're still gonna get the higher level gear.

As for incentive, tbh I'd rather not raid with a person whose only concern is to get dyeable gear. To use "incentive" as a reason for not allowing NM versions to be dyed is shaky at best. Of course I say this as a person who doesn't particularly care for the glamour game (when I do glamour I do it the old way, glamour toilet is too confusing lol) so I'm slightly biased I suppose.

Was any of the 4.0 pvp armor samurai ish? I forget.

Part of it seems to be that they went with the 'robed' samurai approach, like Samurai Jack/Ruroni Kenshin rather than 'fully armored samurai' for the FF XIV job judging by the artifact armor choice. They also share gear with monks so not a lot of striking gear is necessarily going to be explicitly samurai looking.

They also decided to put Greed Only in Alliance Raids, we saw how long that lasted.
A change that was reverted quickly vs a system that's been in place for two expansions. I wouldn't count on SE making normal mode raid gear dyable. MAYBE if they get a budget increase in 5.0 and are able to make different sets but I don't think we're going to see much change in that regard.

It would be a huge stretch to call this a "Samurai Ronin" look. Only the shoulder pads look even remotely asian.

And I wasn't really just referring the to the job of Samurai. Real life Samurai used bows, guns, spears so this would translated to many other jobs such as bard, mechanics and dragoon. Thus all jobs have access to Samurai Armor via Deltascape, but it's just the one set for everybody.
There's also the glamor event Samurai armor, but that's not dyeable either.

It is very frustrating that the only way to get proper dyeable Samurai armor is through Savage. But for an expansion to spend most its time in the land of Samurai, only having one dyeable set is ridiculous, and it should not have been the main motivator to do Savage. That would be like if the Samurai job could only receive wooden bokens, and in order to get a real metal katana, you had to do Savage. Sure, that's real motivation to do Savage, but it's completely forced and unnecessary. Again: most of the expansion takes place in the Far East, why are there so few sets of armor that actually reflect that? And what is it about Ex-Death that makes him the sole dropper of Samurai armor? This is nonsense.

We don't seem to actually see a lot of that in Doma. The main samurai we see are Hien and Gosetsu, who don't seem to wear samurai armor like this.

As far as Deltascape goes I don't think much thought went into that other than 'hey let's make a tier of eastern style armor for this raid since there's a lot of eastern stuff in this expansion.'

Anything useful in the 'Doman' gear from HW? I'd have to go check after work, I don't remember personally liking any of those sets and I forget what they look like. Proably another no go like the pvp gear.

I agree. I think I wouldn't be so hung up on this topic if they had just made more eastern style armor sets. Stormblood just has so many armor sets, and yet so few have anything to do with the setting of the expansion.
For reference, this is the Doman Steel Tabard of Fending.

    About as asian as poutine.

But that is a Tabard of Fending made of Doman Steel and not a Steel Tabard of Fending in Doman style.
All crafted and vendor gear has (mostly) a material as prefix before the type of gear and an sufix of the job categors it is for.

MSQ roulette says hi. Nothing in this game is set in stone and "it is therefore it will be" is not a viable support to anything.
