    This. ^

As for supposed inconsistencies? Sirensong Sea has gear that's dyeable (and is also a rehash from some of the last level 60 dungeons). A few crafted items can't be dyed, but (most) of them, if they can't be dyed, have a harder-to-craft version that is dyeable (the survival shirt, etc.). Flower crowns can't be dyed because people wanted to be able to make something with the flowers that they were able to garden with.

Skalla & Swallow's Compass gear is dyeable because they're contest-winning outfits. Sirensong Sea is the only other "anomaly" (unless there's something I'm not aware of).

Raid gear is only ever dyeable when it becomes craftable later (i.e. Coils, Dun Scaith, etc.)

Class gear has always had to be upgraded pre-dye, same with all tomestone gear, and all class-specific gathering and crafting gear.

So, yeah. Maybe there's a few inconsistencies, but let's not act like it's willy-nilly everywhere you go. It's certainly not a reason to suddenly deviate further from the norm.

Sure, we can agree to disagree here, I dont think we'll get to a common ground anyways.

I'm standing by my point that the high desire for dyeable gear makes it a pretty good reward - a reward should be something you actually want or desire, not some scraps or leftovers or afterthoughts.

Basic character customization is never a thing to be locked behind the most difficult content in a game. Absolute yes to dyable normal raid gear.

We have basic character customization locked behind basically everything in the game - PvP (both casual and tournaments), RNG (hairstyle-drops from PotD/HoH; expensive mats from treasure-hunts), Eureka, Crafting, Dungeons (and more RNG to get the right drop), your real life wallet aka the mogstation...

I get that character customization and glamour are things a lot of people enjoy, which is why they make for good rewards and incentives. If they'd just give us all the gear for free, dumb it into our inventory when we first start the game, there would be pretty little to strive for anymore and content would die even faster.
Just seeing people argue here on how bad this system is, actually tells me that it isnt, because they picked something as reward people actually care about and get them to do content that way.
I wouldnt have gone anywhere near Eureka if it hadnt be for dyeable bard-gear!

Humans rarely do things without a proper reward, we need our carrots - and glamour makes for pretty good carrots.

Customization is locked behind everything in this game - why should Savage be excluded? Specially when its gonna be more or less faceroll-unsyched content with the next expansion?
Because you want it NOW? ...well... you know what to do...

It shouldn't be the exception. All gear should be dyeable.

Basic character customisation is included from the beginning (visual gear).
Additional items for the basic character costumisation are unlocked via Content.
Dyeing, glamour and aesthetician are advanced character costumisation.

Maybe normal mode shouldn't give any gear kind of like normal mode trials. I think that's for the best. No one even likes farming that shit weekly. Just put it in raid roulette right away.

Get SE to increase FF XIV's art asset budget and get more armor sets in the game so they can give savage unique armor sets and I agree. As is, I think savage having to share gear with normal mode but being dyable is an acceptable compromise.
