when is this feature going to become available? i want to save my gearsets and whatnot to the server incase i ever need to swap to a different PC but everytime i try to use it i get the "backup features are currently unavailable" error

I could be wrong but I don't think they said any specific date on that
Next patch possibly?

But if you will need all your gearsets and bars and everything before the function is available you can always copy FFXIV folder from the documents and move it to another computer

Pretty much this. This "feature" isn't anything new to PC players, as all of this data is stored locally on your PC already. Anytime I make a new character/alt I can simply use the previous configs I had setup on my main. The only thing SE is going to do is make it easy for those less tech savvy.

Assuming you've left everything default during the install, the information you need is in your Documents > My Games > FFXIV folder. In there you should see folders like FFXIV_CHR00400002XIHEDIUKGFHE or something or the sort. Each folder is assigned to a character you've made, whether current or deleted in the past. Inside is everything you need. Gearsets/macros/etc.

Just recently got a pc version of this game for home use and on the go use of games. Being a ps4 user originally i need this because i Ho muh gawd

All my hot bar settings and everything set around them is on my ps4 which has caused..... issues when going to PC

And i have scanned for alot of places on the internet and forums for a fix. Even went so far as to try and transfer my character data on ps4 to a thumb drive, needless to say it didn't work.
so atm this feature is going to come in clutch at least for me.

If you're on PC, you can use the backup tool in the launcher, under Config. It's the fastest and easiest way to save/copy it until they enable the server-side backup.

But if you're on console, I don't think that that's available. And same thing regarding transfering the config between it and PC, or vice versa. For that you'll have to wait until they enable the in-game option to copy it to the servers, sadly.
