Hello forums,

Just was helping a new healer out to early end-game content and showed them Stone Sky Sea in Stormblood. While they're learning some tips and suggestions for rotation, my friend wanted to offer a suggestion for the Healer aspect of Stone, Sky, Sea but doesn't have an account here.

Back in WoW: WoD, we had a feature called Proving Grounds which would pit you solo in a room with certain mobs comprising a stage. Once those were defeated you'd advance to the next stage. Some mobs you'd have to interrupt, or dodge AoEs, or DPS them down, or use an extra action button., etc. For the healer aspect you had to heal an NPC taking incoming damage from waves of mobs which they'd defeat. Obtaining a clear in a certain difficulty (Bronze, Silver, Gold) would give you access to that expansion's Heroic level dungeons (like our Expert in FF).

While SSS of course is a very strictly simple DPS check and I understand that, my friend wanted to suggest that the healer version of SSS could be made into a true heal check of maybe an NPC takes a tank hit, then AoE type damage, then more chip hits, where it simulates the raid damage in the Trial or Savage fight. This way a healer can see if they can keep the dummy up in time or if it fails the HPS requirement of the fight.

But that being said, Healer damage can be somewhat unpredictable with player deaths and so again, this could only be one facet of a raid-ready check. Maybe toggle an option for classes that can heal as to do a "DPS Dummy" or "Heal Dummy" check?

Anyway that's all. I'm sure this has been proposed. Maybe for 5.0 it'd be a neat option to give healers more flexibility. I don't know how a threat-based type of tanking dummy could function yet though, hmmm.
