    Okay freaking out!!!!!!!

So I'm really freaking out here. I started up my subscription again after hearing the fixed the game. I load my game up and remade my character cause I got a new computer any everything! The comp was made in sep 2011 and I installed the game fine. I make my character and start playing. the minute I do it works fine. I then go to fight my first mobs where it teaches you.

The game then boots me saying "Unable to detect directx. shutting down, please restart Final Fantasy XIV." I downloaded Directx9.0c like every forum said to. I'm really freaking out cause I like most people work for my money and I don't wanna spend 15 bucks on something I can't even play! HELP please? I really really need help. It does it after 5 mins when playing full screen and instantly if I play in window mode!

Did you try the Benchmark before you resubbed? Also, are the specs on your new machine even the minimum requirements? Maybe a list of your specs would help us maybe help you. Also, Just download the latest drivers for your card; don't worry about whatever you read from a post posted who knows HOW long ago.

Do you get any other messages such as a User Account Control message? Firewall pop-up that may be shifting you out?

No no when I was building my laptop off dell.com. It had choices for my video card. I sellected the higher end one. cause I game and I do school work on my laptop. My laptop does have a section for nvidia and shows that it uses it to play games and such.

If this is a laptop, you may need to install the drivers for your graphics card. Your model should have come with an NVidia GT550M, but it looks like it's using a different chipset.

But if you say you've switched? your graphics card out of the laptop with a different one, I'm not sure where you would be at. If it was the original that came with your Dell model, the following link should match your OS.

*removes link below due to 32-bit operating system*

I believe you will need to get the drivers from the www.nvidia.com website. Worse case scenario, Dell did not configure your laptop with that graphics card. Best case, you will need only drivers to make your graphics card realize it's true power.
