I have this impression too. Back when I started FFXIV it felt different. You'd go to Haukke Manor for the first time, you'd wipe when the adds appeared and everyone kept trying. No vote dismissing, no people questioning others skill, just 4 very motivated players trying to kill a boss. Or Brayflox, I remember the last boss could prove challenging if the tank failed to dodge the aoes or move the boss from the venom puddles. I remember clearing my first EX primals through DF and it was a really fun experience. Garuda and Ifrit didn't take many tries, but Titan at that time required a very good group, and it was sure exciting. The game was fresh back then and people were a lot more enthusiastic. Now I feel like a big part of the playerbase just keeps logging in to do their dailies, cap their tomes, water their flowers and enter their houses, but the fun factor is mostly gone, a lot of people always want to get everything done fast, and they grow extremely impatient the very moment they feel somebody is dragging them down. I think people should take breaks more often and not force themselves into playing FFXIV for so long, nothing is fun forever, and when you are repeteadly playing a game you are not having fun with anymore, your attitude, inevitably, grows bitter too.

Pretty much..... and while I won't join the quickly growing amount of folks who turn their chats off that seems to be the prevalent trend in Duty finder.

As one player put it....let them rage at the sky, because no one else in the group can hear them, sorta like stuffing big stinky sock in their mouths.

Be my guest. I will gladly pick up your slack in expert dungeons, I don't really mind. But you have no place in my *something* ex farm party. In that case you won't hear me, but you'll definitely feel the boot.

Nice selective quoting of what I said..thanks for highlighting what the issue actually is.

In the first year I started FFXIV, there was plenty of toxicity. Does anybody remember Titan HM for relic, before they fixed the latency? It was the only time in this game that I was told to uninstall the game and kill myself (I had more latency than most since I'm from NZ, I got knocked off by landslides frequently). I missed the first Starlight event because that toxicity made me quit for three months. Nothing in this game has made me quit since (first season of rated feast came close, because of toxicity and speed hackers), so arguably I'd say toxicity is less now than it was back then.

I saw a fair amount of rage in Aurum Vale (they implemented the leave timer because of this and LotA) , the final boss of Dzemael Dark hold, and in the first frontline too. Oh yes, LotA the first widespread rage, people stacking skeles, people not standing on plates, people not killing bombs, people not standing on platforms for the final boss....

There was also rage at people not waiting for fates for the relic and hunts. There has always been toxicity in this game, I'm surprised people don't remember it.

I do. I got kicked from parties because of the delightful latency the PS3 and the American servers give me. I had to watch/read guides to learn Titan's rotation and then count to 4 after every attack he did. This was the only way I ever managed to clear Titan HM and get my Relic +1.

I don't like being carried and I also do not like carrying other people.
