Did you know all the dungeons and cycles NO YOU DIDNT. By all the posts so far I've ready is Damn the New Player because he/she does know anything.
Thank goodness SE does not base sales off of arrogant "know it all" who bash a game that you PAY FOR!!!!!! Good grief have some fun with the game. Lighten the hell up
If you're new, you're in some of the first dungeons, and you don't know what you're doing, that's expected. New people will not know some things, and that's okay. You cannot be any more bad at a game than when you were level 1 only just starting.

The difference is, what do you do from there? This is why WoW seems to suffer the "same issue" despite even Blizzard stating that the playerbase over there has been getting better and better. it HAS gotten better and better, but that's for the top people. There are players that will seem to do everything in their power to not learn a thing. A level 70 in Suzaku is not a level 1 that just started the game. They've leveled. They've done content. They've seen some of these moves already.

That's the difference. Do you want to stay at the same skill level of a level 1, or try to improve? You wanna know my expectation in an expert roulette? The tank has kept threat. The healer let nobody die. The dps at least knows what single target 1 2 3 is. Yes, I am even stating that I don't even expect dps to aoe 10+ mobs anymore because it's so rare.

The best you could do is not participate or try to deliberately wipe your group, and it's incredibly unlikely you'll find any substantial number of people who would disagree with a kick in such a situation. However, the appropriateness of the response of the player who originally suggested tic-tac-toe is contingent on the degree of deviation by the other player's actions, which cannot be matched in FFXIV. Instead, what people are complaining about is a combination of 1) failure to carry out intended action or 2) suboptimal intended action. Instances of #2, even when still adequate to clear the content, are generally not exempted from this complaining. This makes it clear that it really is about optimization and a failure to adhere to whatever arbitrary standard the complaining player tries to impose as they try to play the duty police, as it seems that many players think the only reason anyone should play this game is to make an active effort to not just be good enough for the content they're interested in, but to be as good as possible, and they consider any other motivations or ambitions for the game to be invalid.
No, look people are posting the original because of (but not limited to):
    1. Standing around doing nothing, as in not hitting any actions
    2. Doing glaring incorrect actions, like never using heavy shot, hot shot, heavy thrust, dots, not using AoE when there is 4 + monsters, like how my girlfriend will comment on RDM not using scatter in large groups, making the run going slow.
    3. other things that cause runs take 50%+ longer they need to.

You make it sound like people chew out others for casting stone just as aero falls off leaving the monster not have a dot on for a second. What you are implying does not happen. I get a feeling you are posting like you are from being told what to do in exact orders or something like it is common, it really isn't. I do not think you should be using a single experience with someone and come off here acting like it is the norm.

Could be any of these things or more preventing someone from performing well. and to be fair most of the time I find it is.
I do not call people bad, my GF does not call people bad. What does happen is advice is given, and when followed, the run tends to be smooth from there and we move on. When they snap back with stuff like "you do not pay for my sub" they get kicked and we move on.

To me the only thing that matters is how they take friendly advice. Only when someone takes friendly advice and ignores it or returns it with insults and continues playing in a way that hinders the group, would I decide they were "bad". Or if they just start outright with a rude or unfriendly attitude.

If they mess up a few times and apologize, it's fine. If they actually did the mechanic, but misunderstood something it's fine and great they're trying. If they actually had a bad day or felt sick it's fine, I can be sympathetic, that sucks. If they hadn't done that dungeon in ages and forgot it, it's fine, happy to give a recap. New player, that's fine, take the time to get more experience, I can be patient. Anxiety, definitely fine, I understand that and anxious players can do amazing things without any stress.

I can understand where the community comes from in where its frustrating when players don't want to try, but sometimes players get far too agressive against the "bads" and forget slip ups can happen and at the end of the day we play a game to relax and have fun with other human beings, not as a crazy efficiency drive. Too many people automatically assume the other players in their group are idiots who don't put in effort or care, the moment the slightest thing goes wrong.

Things to think about if someone says you're bad:

Am I doing anything wrong? Did I die more than others/consistently get hit by aoes/do mechanics wrong/play my class wrong? If yes, try to fix (practice in practice parties more, get services that reduce ping, practice doing your rotation in lower end duties, like 24man or eureka)

If I am playing poorly, maybe I should do this content with friends/FC instead

If am not playing poorly, then the guy who told me I was bad might be sick and irritable, had a lot of bad runs before, or a jerk. Just think to yourself they are just some random on the Internet who doesn't mean anything to you, and either stay and get the run done, or leave.

Why should 7 other people have to deal with that though? None of those things are anyone's responsibility except the player being called bad. Perhaps if people took responsibility for their skill and how they are performing we would have better players. As it stands we have people going on the forums trying to defend bad play and saying "think before you call them bad".

Before you post a response in these forums perhaps you should remember this is only a video game. Get a grip people. Seriously.

It is also a hobby. I can say the same about sports or other hobbies.

Just because it's a game doesn't excuse you for wasting other people's time.

At least we don't have riots in the streets when someone loses.

Doesn't matter to me. If someone is bad to the point of impeding the progress of the rest of the group, their reason for being so is generally irrelevant. They need to fix what's causing them to suck eggs or they need to go, no two ways about it.

I was wondering when this retort would crop up.

I don't care what it is, if it's a task that I set aside personal time for, I'm going to get irritated if some mouthbreather comes along and repeatedly does things that waste that time. The fact that we're talking about a video game doesn't detract from that at all.
