Lore-friendly Naming After Eternal Bond Between a Seeker (M) and Keeper (F) Miqo'te

A similar question was asked and addressed before, but the genders are different in my case.

When we started playing a while back, me an my boyfriend IRL made Miqo'te with lore-friendly names, but we tend to gender-swap in games so I'm the male and he's the female in this case.

When we do the Eternal Bond ceremony, what would make the most sense as far as naming goes? Should my character take my boyfriend's Keeper's surname since mine relinquished affiliation with the Seekers or would our characters' names even change since they're Miqo'te anyways?

"Unlike the Seekers of the Sun, the Keepers of the Moon is a highly matriarchal society, with family names passed down from the mother, not the father. It is said that some of these surnames have survived since the First Astral Era."

This is from the Official Naming Conventions Thread - to me this highly suggests that if anyone takes their partners name, the male will take the females surname, seeing how the family names are passed down from the mother. It would make little sense (at least to me) if the surname of the mother would be "erased" by her husband.

But I'll repeat what I said in the other thread: I dont think that Mi'qote share our human idea in regards to that at all, they probably just keep their names.

With the strong focus on the females/mothers in the Keeper Tribes, I'd go with her name though.

I saw an earlier version of this post where you went a lot more into the lore you were trying to work through (and had a useful link to some earlier information from Fernehalwes). How come you deleted it?

In any case, as Vidu said, the Keeper family name is going to have priority as it is a family name, while Seekers don't have a continuous surname over generations - the tribe letter serves that function, and your character has rejected that, so you're not going to be using it as a couple.

So your boyfriend's character won't need to change her name, and it just comes down to what you (or your character) values about their name. You've already abandoned normal naming format, so it's down to whatever you/he would prefer. Did he choose to have his mother's-name-as-surname because he really wants to show that link, or just because he had to use something as a surname after abandoning the Tia title? Does he want to keep that name or change it to reflect his marriage?

Considering it's an unusual (but NOT lore breaking) occurrence I'd say go with what your characters want. They're already going against tradition marrying outside of their normal groups.
