Game does not allow blacklist while in a dungeon. I an not even sure what the point of this post is, it is like you are trying to defend reasons why we can have it when we know it is not happening.1) ignore list
2) push to talk (it's always been a requirement when we did 40 man raids in wow)
3) again ignore list
4) once again, ignore list
5) You won't join my ultimate group then
6) mute yourself?
7) again ignore
8) You can always explain this to the group, in progress runs chatter should be kept to an absolute minimum and only talk about mechanics during the fight so everybody has 100% focus.
Many headsets have a mice mute button or you can always use push to talk so you have control when your voice is being recorded or just disable your mic in the voice chat software.
I've had some female gamers who had the harassment thing (happend in Destiny sometimes) I always booted the people who did this and add them on the ignore list so they would never get in our runs again. Never has become a real issue.
It doesn't became a problem if you don't let it.
Yoshi-p addressed your "counters" for number 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, and for number 8, that explaing would not matter, see what yoshi-p said, so this suggestion is a clear no, there is no point in trying to counter AmemeAmeklin's postNaoki Yoshida: We do not plan on offering official support for voice chat. To explain that decision, the idea of talking directly to other players with your own voice and making it a requirement to do so will not necessarily be a good thing for beginners and new players and many will see it as imposing pressure or causing them unnecessary stress.
I am personally a veteran online gamer so I completely understand the importance of voice chat but if we were to make it an officially supported feature then there is a chance that some players would start to demand that others use it just because it is an “official feature”.
Of course, we will not be prohibiting external voice chat via Skype etc, so individual player communities can still sort out their own preferred means of communication!

With only third party options for voice chat, while it can be demanded for ultimate, it usually isn't demanded for extreme trials or savage pugs. If there were an in-game voice chat, people would demand it in almost every party finder content.
I personally already have a hard time talking to other people irl. But talking to strangers in a game would be even worse for me. Not everyone can do something like that. So I like that there is a great option with discord for those who want to use voice chat, but there is no forced in-game option. So I'm happy that there is none.
And all what he said doesn't affect me since I have Discord anyway.Game does not allow blacklist while in a dungeon. I an not even sure what the point of this post is, it is like you are trying to defend reasons why we can have it when we know it is not happening.

The thing is for people who're on Playstation, they do not have discord they have to use their phone or laptop or w/e. At the start of SB there where 2 people in my group who were on Playstation, one had his laptop with headset and the other used his phone with headset, they cannot use push to talk and cannot enjoy the music of the game since it would be send in the mic all the time.
I'd be annoyed if I was a Playstation player and I'd feel as they rub it off as 'wrong platform' and that I should get PC version.
How does a Playstation user clear ultimate when the other 7 players are on PC and using Discord and the Playstation user won't/don't have phone or laptop with discord?
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Then you get Sony to add support for Discord on their platform, or allow third party devs to do it. With regards to Xbox One, I know a third party Discord app is being made (an extension of the Windows Phone app actually), and actually have spoken with the developer. There you go, problem solved. Square Enix's servers are already running on false hopes and dashed dreams as is, let's not add voice chat on top of it as well (since they adamantly refuse to upgrade their infrastructure to a point that would be required for VC).
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
You can do this, but it requires a PC/phone for Discord and a little hardware audio mixer (I got one for €30) to mix the sound from Discord and the Playstation together. Not very elegant but possible if you really want to do this.
Easy, get a phone or a laptop. I mean, I don't know how it is for you, but I literally do not know a single person who does not have a personal smartphone at the very least besides the elderly who sometimes still like to use those "pay-as-you-go" flip phones. The person who is playing on a PlayStation 4 would have either a laptop or a smartphone easily in this day and age, if not both outright.
We do live in a technology heavy era now and the only people being left behind on it are the baby boomers mostly. And it's rare to find a baby boomer who actively plays on a PC or PS4, let alone XIV.
It's not that easy. Many people have outdated technology or simply dont have the know how to operate some of it. Some may not have the best internet/router for it.Easy, get a phone or a laptop. While the era is technology heavy now, it doesn't mean its always so, or it always works, or bad things dont happen to it, or people have the funds to have more than one item of technology. As for its rare for a baby boomer to play, I know quite a few that play on PS4 in FFXIV. and thats AWESOME, even if they don't understand how a phone works....... (true story right there to tell another time)
"Within each of us, the potential for great power waits to be released."
Well, the thing is, it's a double-edge sword. You have to ask yourself: how does one know how to properly use a PS4 or a PC and not a cellphone or laptop? Out of the three devices: cellphone, PC/laptop, and PS4 when concerning the inner workings of each device and their user friendly interfaces....a cellphone should be much easier to figure out by a much larger margin than a console or PC.
On a scale of difficulty for ease of use, I think it should be.
Smartphone ---> PS4 ----> Laptop/PC.
If one can figure out how a PS4 functions, even more so if they use a PC mainly, one can figure out a cellphone at the very least or you'd think they'd be able to.
The "not having enough funds" can be a understandable issue, but if a PS4 player's excuse (and I play on PS4 while using my laptop for Discord) is that they can't figure out how to get Discord to work on their smartphone or their laptop...I don't know, I'd have to start questioning if they knew where they should put their HDMI cable for their PS4 into their TV then...because yikes...
