There are better option so se doesn't need to spend time on it.
Erp on balmung no thank you
Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
Then you get Sony to add support for Discord on their platform, or allow third party devs to do it. With regards to Xbox One, I know a third party Discord app is being made (an extension of the Windows Phone app actually), and actually have spoken with the developer. There you go, problem solved. Square Enix's servers are already running on false hopes and dashed dreams as is, let's not add voice chat on top of it as well (since they adamantly refuse to upgrade their infrastructure to a point that would be required for VC).
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
No, it doesn't need it. Just play the game and learn how to spell!
Less Reality makes for better Fantasy!
Support adding "6 Fulms Under" to gpose!

You can do this, but it requires a PC/phone for Discord and a little hardware audio mixer (I got one for €30) to mix the sound from Discord and the Playstation together. Not very elegant but possible if you really want to do this.
I mean, when I get into an elevator with strangers I don't immediately hope to begin conversing with them. There are options for voice chat-- they all work well. This game doesn't require it, but the option is there for those doing endgame content. I understand the social aspect of the game may bring people together for other reasons though. For me-- I speak all day for a living and when I want to relax the last thing I want to do is have banal conversations with people while waiting for a dungeon queue. Not my thing-- but happy that we can all play the way we want, to some degree!
ps. I use Discord for raiding and for learning EX primals. I'm own a PS4 pro and have Discord on my iPhone.

Considering the kinds of nonsense that I see in alliance raid chats, PvP (sometimes), and Eureka when I did it?
Naaaaah. I'd rather not hear people in-game on VC discussing who has a bigger Kellogs box: the guy with the Lucky Charms or the one with the Fruity Pebbles, or what they had for dinner last night, or what happened on Game of Thrones, etc...save that for personal Discord channels.
I'm okay with the baby shark song though. You're a monster if you dislike that song.

Easy, get a phone or a laptop. I mean, I don't know how it is for you, but I literally do not know a single person who does not have a personal smartphone at the very least besides the elderly who sometimes still like to use those "pay-as-you-go" flip phones. The person who is playing on a PlayStation 4 would have either a laptop or a smartphone easily in this day and age, if not both outright.
We do live in a technology heavy era now and the only people being left behind on it are the baby boomers mostly. And it's rare to find a baby boomer who actively plays on a PC or PS4, let alone XIV.
Discord offers way to many options
