In Game Voice Chat, Why doesn't this game have it and would you use if it did?

I'm gonna have to roll with the no crowd here. Yes, it'll be convenient, but it's not needed. Discord is ubiquitous (yes, it's even so pervasive you can voice chat on a WINDOWS PHONE of all things, I know as I have one and have a third party app for it that supports it), and offers so much more than anything SE could come up with. I'd stick with Discord. Yes, Discord is required for my static I'm creating (to listen at least, you don't necessarily have to talk, but it's preferred!).

I would not want an integrated chat. I'd rather use whatever third party program that's popular at the time (Discord now), with only a select group of people / for content that merits it. I'm fine with my static, but I wouldn't even use it regularly when I was in a larger FC. I've been on the receiving end of sexism in multiple games, and it's quite unpleasant. People mentioned the trolls, but it's just as bad if not worse when someone gets obsessed with crushing on you. Begging your attention, literally *crying* while asking why you won't accept their gifts, etc..

People don't use in-game vc anyway. We have VOIP/3rd party software for that.

Not something I want the devs to spend time on. If they did implement it I would turn it of asap, and if I could not turn it of I would seriously quit the game.
The current third party voip programs are good enough, there we get to decide who we want to talk with and when.
If an in game system was implemented it would.
1: Take resources away from other things.
2: Result in us having to hear some 12-year old a-hole screaming in a squicky voice how they are going to f*** someones mom. And we would hear this a lot all over the place. Better to leave that animal in its natural habitat, CoD.

Let's be honest though. What we really want... is Discord available to PS4 and overlay integration that allows in-game links to be tagged for immediate searches and, more importantly, the ability to rapidly join Discord servers, with new (free user-count) servers or new rooms (in your own Discord) being auto-generateable based on your game's location or party specifications information. Prove me wrong.

You false because... hum... not only discord ! Some (rare) people uses TS or mumble even now. (their choice ^^' )

Sony and Microsoft (and even nintendo) could now easily include discord, TS3 and mumble in their highly technologic box. XboxOne and PS4 are quite close to a computer. And it would be far more better that included an "ingame voice chat" on all online game.
And discord, teamspeak or mumble are light programs... It is just adding some small software in the PS4... not sure would be take them month of dev-work... Probably far less work than for SE creating an in-game voice chat for FFXIV

And a discord in PS4 it wouldnt be usefull only when you play with your team. I am not the only one who, sometimes, log to vocal chat on one discord server just... to speak with other people... that are maybe on other game than mine at the moment we speak... Wher an ingame voice chat would be limited to... the game you play.



Now, it is sadly not the place to request it, and i dont own any PS4 (or any other) but for PS4 players wanting to chat, there is better to claim this to sony than SE.

Yes, because having the game disconnect you while you're talking to folks is what we need. Shooters can pull it off because they don't have as much data running back and forth, mostly bullet drop and character positions. Damage is negligible because it's mostly a simple (Caliber-Distance)(Armor-Area of body)=Damage instead of some amorphous hellscape formed by the dark gods named leveliathan, gearthulu, rng-oroth, and mitigationicifer.

Why?

a) Developer time required to make an in-built VC.
b) Above gets skipped by most people due to popularity of existing external VC clients.
c) Regardless of whether you do/don't use it, some people will also use it as a beating stick - one can argue it is in a similar vein to their stance on DPS meters.

There's honestly no reason for me to advocate in-built VC when there are already externals I prefer. In many games I play where it was a recent addition, such as WoW or Heroes of the Storm, people either never use it (WoW), or try to force people into it (HotS). Then you realize that aside from those not using it or trying to force it, everyone is using externals anyway.

TLDR - It's simply not worth it from anyone's perspective, be it the players or SE.

I would use ingame voice chat only if it was proximity-type voice chat, for RP purpose

I wouldn't use it outside of say, ex primals/savage raids if I signed up for them. Rest of the game, you don't really need that level of communication.
