I picked up the game because I hated FFXI and wanted to try again.

I like this game better. So, I'll say it's the game, not the name.

I purchased the game because I loved FFXI and was excited for the next FF MMO.

I stuck with the game initially because of how XI grew over time.

I am currently subbed to the game because of Yoshi. I like where he is taking the game, and I am willing to give him time while paying a sub to do it.

Would I have done this for any other title from any other company? No.

The name...

I'm always looking at Eve Online or what GW2 is gonna be and think to myself "what if..." but I WANT this FF to succeed, and I have RL friends that play too, and I enjoy reading about the great things coming in 2.0. If it weren't FF, I'd be getting pod-killed right now.

So make sure it lives up to the Final Fantasy name devs, you hear?

Even though there hasn't really been a good FF game since XI, I still buy them and expect them to have a great story and characters, and the story is all I really care about in a game.

So yes, I am loyal to the name.

The name initially. I wouldn't have given this a second glance if it wasn't made by SE and part of the Final Fantasy franchise.
I was in (closed) beta and had a lot of fun despite all the bugs and d/c's. I liked the story & wanted to know more. Then I made some in-game friends & continue to meet new and interesting people from all over the world. I think that's probably the best part of FFXIV right now. (^_^)b

i guess to the name at first, but i´ve been enjoying the game since a few patches i dont like how other games are clones of WoW (and i played WoW for 3 years and did all endgame and liked it for some time) like star wars i tried that with a firend and didnt like it that much because is more of the same, at least as crappy that FFXIV is, its original in lots of stuffs thats what i think will keep me playing for long time.

What keeps me playing?

50% are the graphics, art style, and character and world design. No other game is more appealing visually to me.
50% is FFXI, and knowing that XIV is an empty canvas ready to be painted into a masterpiece like XI.

I'm very picky with games altogether. I loved X, never finished X-2. I loved XI for 4 years, never finished XII. I absolutely loved XIII, got bored with XIII-2 about 20 hours in, haven't played since. I'll definitely try a Square Enix game, because more often than not I'll find their games enjoyable. But this isn't why I continue to stick with XIV, it's the first couple points I made above.

I will say it's the name get me to play this game. However, it's too simplified to say that because to me final fantasy the name gives that nice quality of picture, music and style that match my expectation and favor. These are not the korean or western games can have... So if it's similar japanese team (SE) to make another mmorpg in other name, I'll still play it.
