Some things in this game are unnecessarily difficult , like the Stormblood quest ( shinryu ) or the 4.3 primal , in fact even 1 year after you are almost sure to fail the first try if you have Susano in the trial roulette ....
Shinryu and Tsukuyomi aren’t difficult; they just require people to use their brain. Something the game has done very little of up until Shinryu.

But these threads have to stop , the burn IS NOT hard at all ... it has the same difficulty than Aurum Vale / The Vault , and the mog dungeon in HW -i forgot the name .
The Burn isn’t a difficult dungeon. I’d say it’s easier than AV and The Vault. And definitely easier than Sohr Khai.

Even the previous expert roulette , with The Swallow's Compass was harder than this one , during 4.3 i got my tomestones in Eureka / Hunts / HoH to don't have to bother with it .
Swallow’s Compass is the easiest Expert Roulette dungeon to date. When you can do the entire thing and not even heal... there’s a problem.

I'm still not high fiving SE yet.. cause I still believe it's just gear. I don't think mist dragon is anything speical at all. Once people get gear this dungeon like all the other ones wil be a joke and people will be bored again. Yes I'm jaded but for right now I see no reason not to be. This is why I'm waiting. I won't high five SE unless it still kills you and is just as hard once we're full 409 or whatever. Until then I'm withholding my judgement. With that being said, I've seen people die to some insane shit in this game. I seen a wipe on floor ONE in deep dungeon.. yes floor ONE! I seen a group wipe 3 times in the first dungeon. Yes. This happened. So I dunno. I get that alot of people think this game is piss poor easy, but I seen both sides and I think it's in a fine place. What we really should be asking is NOT for harder dungeons cause it isn't happening. We need to stop GEAR creep. THAT I believe is the issue. Stop that.. you stop baby mode.

How about boss mechanics deal damage in % instead of flat out damage.

So that you loose say 80% from a certain hit at lvl 70 but still loose 80% at lvl 80 for example. And a higher sync rate so you can't face roll it with higher Ilvl?

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Gear exists for a reason, including "Better" and higher item level gear. If they did that, why have item levels at all? why not just use one set of gear forever? People are SUPPOSED to out gear content eventually.

Yes this is true.. but the issue I think we have is we're getting into NEW content already overpowered. There's no reason a dungeon should give useless gear that's 40 points BELOW what we are currently wearing if you even casually play this game. We get spoiled with gear too fast. THAT is why this game is piss poor easy I believe. Or atleast it's a huge reason why. Why are we getting 355 gear when the normal player is like 360 atleast?

I'm just gonna chime in and say this is usually done in consideration for new players who are currently leveling so that they can progress in ilvl slightly. Or people who have been unsubbed for extended periods of time.
At 50/60, and eventually 70 in 5.0, players will likely be equiping some of this gear as they go along unless they have a friend who can sugar-daddy them with HQ crafted equipment. Because it's unlikely they'll have a backlog of 2k+ Poetics to get a full set of enhanced Ironworks/Shire/soon-to-be-Rakshasa gear. They also won't have access to anything better (short of buying HQ [X]4 or higher off the marketboard) until they reach the next expansion pack and start getting gear from vendors/the MSQ.
Dungeon gear has never been for people who were BiS/tome-geared in the recent raid tier if I recall correctly.

That aside, itemization and power progression in XIV is objectively bad, yes.

How easy do people want this freaking game? They might as well just add an auto win button for all the lazy people that don't want to try and think every little stressful or hard bit that comes up is unfair or whatever get a grip people.....This game needs to get HARDER not easier why do people want to brainlessly go through content?

It takes me maybe a week to level a class to 70, but I need 1 - 3 months until I can play it on a decent level.

You level so fast and because the gameplay is not complete for many classes before you reach 70, and the whole mass pull and aoe it down is more or less a new thing at level cap wich was not that present during the level process, you will not be able to learn how to play before hitting level cap.

Some people, like myself, maybe are just a bit slow with learning. Kick these people from ex trials and savage raid all you want, but how should these people ever become better when you kick them from dungeons and other casual content? Of course some people will never improve, but many others will and they need the paractical training in level 70 dungeons.

If you still need to learn your job, there's nothing wrong with going into dungeons and normal mode trials/raids to get experience with them. Especially if you're making an honest effort to improve.

EX trials and Savage Raids (and Ultimate fights) are the hardest content in the game. These are not places you should go to learn your job. These are places you go AFTER you've learned your job. If it takes you a few months to learn your job that's fine. For example, I've leveled white mage to level 70 but I don't know the job well enough to step into a ex trial as a whm. I can handle a dungeon just fine but I wouldn't do high end content without getting better at the job and learning more of its ends and outs.

Now I'm not saying you should somehow know a savage or ex fight before trying it. It's perfectly fine to enter a learning party and make some mistakes while making an honest effort to learn the fight. But you should know your job already so that you can focus on learning the FIGHT. If you need more practice to learn the job, again that's fine, but don't do it in savage/ex content. Do it in dungeons, at a target dummy, or normal mode fights.

I would in all honesty just smack a training dummy around for a bit at lvl 70, so that even your AoE rotations become muscle memory. That alone helps. But looking up a guide outside of the game goes a long way too. Once you know the inner workings of your class things become much easier. As far as dealing with mechanics? Yeah, not really any other way to learn than to be baptized by fire. That comes back to knowing your class as well, so you know what you can do, when you can do it and how often.
