Black screen + crashes since patch 4.4

Making one of these of my own since I'm not getting an answer in other threads

Ever since patch 4.4 launch, the game has randomly been crashing for me. Sometimes it takes over an hour and sometimes it crashes as soon as I zone in. I just get a black screen and have to force restart my computer every time so I'm not able to provide any error messages.

I used to run the game perfectly fine before the patch and I'm not having any trouble with any other (more demanding) games. I've also stress tested my GPU just in case.

I've tried most of the fixes suggested by mods in other threads
- Running in win7 compatibility mode
- Using dx9
- Reinstalling the game
- Disabling all overlays (discord, geforce etc)
- Deleting the FF folder in My Documents
- Reinstalling graphic drivers

I also changed from max graphic settings (which used to work fine before 4.4) to the basic laptop settings and still no luck. My monitors display "out of range" when the crash happens which suggested a framerate issue but I lowered that to a 30 FPS lock too (used to be 60).

It's almost one week since the patch launched and the game is pretty much unplayable for me. And quite a few others just judging by the number of open threads reporting similar issues. Would really appreciate if we get a proper fix instead of the same "fixes" being suggested to everyone and then threads being ignored when those fixes are reported to not work
