Quick question about the "Charred" enemies in the Burn.

So, the burn is an area that is aetherically dead due to being drained hard of it's aether. Subsequently when we head to the Allagan ruins there, we find Allagan weapons that have the Charred suffix, meaning likely that they have been affected by being left in the Burn.

How are they still running then? The most likely side effect of remaining there would be any stored aether draining out of you like being in a vacuum, and as they run on aether the automatons would likely be either dead or severely drained, which doesn't seemt to be the case.

Also, the Burn and Charred seem like weird adjectives to use. Those seem more at home with the effects of too much aether in an area, not too little.

They're probably the leftovers of Allagan experiments like the Mist Dragon is. Also... if fishing is anything to go by, life in Hydaelyn is super hardy and super flexible about it's environment. We've got fish in lava, fish in aetherchemical spills (radioactive sludge?), fish in the air, fish in sand...

There's also the argument that there not being life in the Burn is another one of Solus' lies about the place. It's not like there's a lot of reason to go there and confirm if there's hidden pockets of the offspring of life that requires very little aether to live in the place...

Err, I was talking about the automatons, not the life

The House of the Crooked Coin was set up to reroute the aether from the Burn in order to launch objects into the sky / space - living beings simply cannot sustain themselves there, which naturally leads to the area becoming devoid of life. The aether of whatever dies there would return to the land, but it was being rerouted.

Automatons... aren't alive in the traditional sense. As such they could probably operate indefinitely there.

The term "Charred" was likely chosen because it's a lesser degree of burn. Get it? They've likely been affected by being in the Burn, but not so much they can't function.
