After the most recent updates, I'm beginning to think this game (at least on Aether) can't handle more than one or two of this sort of time-sink content. When Pagos hit, Frontline completely died. When 4.4 hit and gave a bunch of new PVP rewards, Frontline became super popular again, and Pagos died. A new Rival Wings map and a Daily Challenge would revitalize it for a bit, but I worry that it would also just cause the queues for both Rival Wings and Frontline to be too long.
Yeah, when new shinies are released people will flock to it. That doesn't mean roulettes/daily challenges don't work. Old alliance raids were thoroughly dead before the roulette. Old frontlines were thoroughly dead before the daily challenge. Astralagos... simply offers no daily reward at all. After the most recent updates, I'm beginning to think this game (at least on Aether) can't handle more than one or two of this sort of time-sink content. It might (and probably would, really) still fall off when people flock to newly released content, but it'd still help ensure regular activity.
PvP is played by an extreme minority in this game, so that is probably why.
I wouldn't even say that. PvE just has a lot of systems that ensure a constant flow of people into duties which nobody queues for anymore. Duty Roulettes, Relic/Anima Questline, Crafting/housing mats, glamour gear. Without those some PvE content wouldn't be so active as it is. PvP only has frontline roulette, and that worked pretty good.
They could change the system so the frontline roulette includes Astralogos and we would get pops every time it is chosen.

You could give PvP all the incentives in the world but unless it's actually attractive to play, people won't do it, and those that do so anyway harm the PvP community because imagine trying to get interested as a new lvl 30 and the first thing you see is people afking for new rewards/tomes, that's the impression you'll keep. People will PvE because it's enjoyable, it's consistently rewarding at all levels, it has a better progression system, it's linked to the storyline etc etc, remove rewards from the equation and then look at the size of the playerbase that at least attempt savage vs those who PvP for something other than a silly haircut.I wouldn't even say that. Frontline Roulette AKA Daily Challenge has refuted your argument before you've even begun.
It's here. It works.
Spoken like someone who wasn't here before roulettes existed.
It was an exact inversion of the above. Queues died and you couldn't get into older content... until they were implemented. It was especially a problem for latecomers to story progression, too.
Most recent example being Alliance raids. You'd *maybe* get a pop on a single day's evening, when the community agreed to all queue for them at that time. Same situation as Astralagos now.
SE puts in a roulette. And the content lives once more.
I doubt it's going to get a roulette until they add another map for it. I thought I remembered reading somewhere they were planning on doing that, but don't recall the timeline for it.
Would have been nice if they had added our current map to the Frontlines roulette in the meantime, though.

By all levels, I meant all difficulties at max level, not all character levels.
Also people AFK in Frontlines for the rewards, which was an argument I'd already made, if you'd read the whole argument before the "I've been here longer than thou and I know what works" spiel, then we'd have saved two posts.
When they come out with the new Rival Wings mode, they can make a roulette. They can't make a roulette with only one mode.
