I agree. It would be nice to have one flat agreed up on rate per month to have more then one character. I guess server cost may be the reason they charge extra as the servers have more info to store and what not.

F2P isn't the way forward for FFXIV, perhaps if it fails at 2.0 it would be justifyable, but only then.
From what I have seen of recent P2P MMOs gone F2P (mainly STO and DCUO) they allow full access to the game, you have to buy expansion packs, and you can buy other things that you need, however these 2 games are playable without using the cash shop and they are also hybrid models, so they also have an optional subscription, which gives access to the whole game and all expansions.
I dont think this system would really work for FFXIV, it would make no money in the current state, they would need to charge for everything, for example, in STO there are alot of refit ships in the cash shop, we couldnt really have this, except chocobos with specific abilities. I cant see the game going F2P unless 2.0 fails, P2P worked fine for FFXI and as they say if it ain't broken dont fix it, they just need to make a game that will make people want to pay for and it will all be good![]()
F2p system with premium accounts paying like p2p games, and free accounts limited seems ok to me, is like we are now, but if someone want to come for free with limitations (80 slot inventory, slow anima recovery, slow guildleve recovery, mount limited to chocobo with less time, without access to lastest dungeons and content, etc... )
this way is like we are now, but with more people, because all we are now here, will still in p2p mode and servers will fulled with new people... see DC online, from p2p to f2p they got 1000%
Some one said he dont want kids comming coz f2p.. but i think our priority is that SE got enough money monthly to can support this game, or we will go down like lots of games. Is not what u want, is what u need.

If this game goes F2P and has a real money shop I'm out !
No, SE has actually developed a new model! It is unbelievable!! Its called....Free 2 Play still being considered?
are you ready???.....
Pay to Not Play or "P2NP".
That's bascially what I am doing atm.

I actually like ChiefCurahee's idea.
Sometimes there is a month or two where I don't do anything in the game or when I do, it's just grinding. The F2P in this case would save me money and give me access to only the stuff I want to do when I want to do it. While the subscription would give me a discount for having everything accessible at any given time without having to worry. I'd probably still stick with a subscription, especially if they keep the bulk discounted rate for when you buy six months at a time, but during the holiday season I almost get no time for the game at all. It seems like wasted money to me. I'd like to have the option to "not play" and still feel like I'm getting my money's worth. If I'm not playing I feel like I'm getting ripped off. With an F2P model like ChiefCurahee's I think it would work.
if they add f2p it needs to be a hybrid model.
P2P automatically gets everything the f2p cash shop gives for $12.99 a month
F2p model something like this
1) Gets half xp, but you can buy xp booster up to 100%
2) Get 50% drop rates, but you can buy drop rates up potions up to 100%
3) Gets no Anima regen, but you can buy more
4) Cannot wear certain endgame armors without paying a $1 a day to unlock the ability to wear them.
5) Cannot use a chocobo, mounts, or airships without paying a weekly fee to renew the airship.
6) Crafting and Leveling fatigue are reintroduced but at it takes effect faster, can buy stamina potions to remove part of the fatigue. (p2p has no fatigue)
Do something like that. Only way I would pay if it added a f2p system. If I p2p I automatically get everything the f2p ppl can possibly get. No disadvantage to the p2p person, major $$$ disadvantage to the f2p person.
f2p could be cheaper if you only play say 10days a month, but will completely destroy you if you play more then that.
Then again who would play a f2p game where it is impossible to play without a sub...
I agree with Xatsh Vei's philosophy of if you p2p then you get everything but the model she has set out for f2p is a little harsh. I don't think you should have to rent the gear you've earned, maybe pay to repair it though.
Erm the idea is to casual people come to play... 1$ per day to equip gear? half exp? joking? a f2p vs p2p cant have too much disadvantages. More like:if they add f2p it needs to be a hybrid model.

DoH/DoL limited to level 30. Single pay per class to unlock it.
Access to lastest content. Unlock by single pay (1 week).
Slowest anima regen. Single pay to regen naturally (1 week).
etc
You cant use daily/week pays for f2p content.. is stupid to dont pay 12$ per month and to pay 1$ per day to equip gear or to mount, etc. All f2p games uses time limitation instead, coz people dont want to pay per month or per week. Is like they feel more comfortable doing this way.
