While extreme and only as a last resort : Chargeback. They'll ban your account and you can only get it back if you pay them.Hello, fellow players I am afraid I have a very stupid question for you and yes I am dead serious... I have zillion reasons to quit this game which I wouldn't bore you guys with here but my question is very simple. How can I quit this game and leave for good?
I tried to quit and cancelled the subscription multiple times but I see myself playing this after few months later. Rinse and repeat. I even tried to cancel my credit card and it didn't work either. I even had a therapy. I may lose everything I have now if I continue playing this game or any MMO that matter.
A friend of mine said deleting character/account would definitely help but I would like to avoid this unless it is the only option?
If you're addicted, I suggest you to look for a psychologist. He can help you with it.
And you can try to make 2 strategies:
1. Play FFXIV, but try to play less every time, focusing on what is making you to stop.
2. Just uninstall, unsub and always remember why you stopped. Some alchoholic helping group says that the most important thing is never take the first glass.
Not to be rude, it's all about determination. There is nothing wrong with playing just in moderation and sometimes in life we all need to escape to our own little place. IF your going to lose everything ... it may seem a bit over the top. Life has to have some meaning and choices that we have to make. Is it really worth making your life a living hell? Just accept it and keep it into moderation and slowly play less. Make it so that when RL kicks in you set the game down. In the end it's all about how strong of a person you are mentally. Going cold turkey will just hurt you both mentally and give you anxiety attacks. Make it so that you play less a day. Example, play on Tues and skip wed, and so forth. Then play Tues skip two days, until your able to play once or twice a week. It's not easy and admitting you have a problem helps.Hello, fellow players I am afraid I have a very stupid question for you and yes I am dead serious... If you're at the point that you're in therapy over an inability to quit an MMORPG, I very much doubt anyone here can help you.
The only thing I could suggest is putting as many barriers between you and the game as possible: logout, uninstall the game, delete any saved passwords or credit card information, logout of the website, and spend as little time around a computer as possible. You could also try changing your password to something random so that you have to recover it before you can login. Create as many points at which you can stop and reevaluate the decision as possible, so you have as many opportunities to stop yourself as possible. Most importantly, go find something else to do that's even moderately enjoyable, preferably something constructive.
Change your password, slam the keyboard, copy and paste to confirm the new password. Effectively this is the same as deleting your characters since you'd be locked out of your account, but a little less so since you can password recover if you put in the effort.
Level everything to 70 and realize there is very little to do that is of any worth for you character progression.
You cant beat a online gaming addiction by playing another online game. Your best solution is to get rid of the internet itself.
It's good that you're seeking therapy and addressing the issue! Big steps!
I have a friend who had to literally get rid of his PC because of his OCD issues over things. He's been doing much better, I'm not suggesting that will help you but it helped my friend who couldn't stop certain behaviors.
I also had kind of the same weird obsession when I was playing FFXI, I really needed to quit so I gave my character away, one that I had progressed on for 10 years. Deleting it wasn't enough because I knew I could get it restored.
Just don't feel alone, social interaction in gaming can be very addictive for some people but again, I'm glad you are trying to help yourself! Best of luck![]()
If continuing to play any MMOs is going to cause you to lose everything you need to see a therapist immediately. Just stop now, log out of this forum and meet with a therapist who can help you get on the right path.
You should seek processional help like many others in here should.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
