How to quit this game...?

Hello, fellow players I am afraid I have a very stupid question for you and yes I am dead serious... I have zillion reasons to quit this game which I wouldn't bore you guys with here but my question is very simple. How can I quit this game and leave for good?

I tried to quit and cancelled the subscription multiple times but I see myself playing this after few months later. Rinse and repeat. I even tried to cancel my credit card and it didn't work either. I even had a therapy. I may lose everything I have now if I continue playing this game or any MMO that matter.

A friend of mine said deleting character/account would definitely help but I would like to avoid this unless it is the only option?

Just...quit? I mean, i don't really understand. If you're done, you're done. But if you have a problem, like an addiction...well, that's not something the forums are equipped to deal with. You said you went to therapy. Obviously if you have an addiction and can't stop, you need to go back. Seriously. This sounds like an addiction.

If it's really that bad, maybe give up on gaming all together. Sell/get rid of your PC/PS4 (whatever platform) and seek out some help.

I was the same for awhile, and I ended up taking a break for...5 months-ish? Gave up a good medium plot in Lavender Beds too. One day I got the itch to play and I couldn't help but resub. WoW's latest expansion being a bit of a mess was all the more reason to. The thing that I had to learn about FF XIV, is that it's not meant to be played 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Outside of maybe Savage and Ultimate, the game is the most casual MMO I have ever encountered.

Seeing as I don't do either of those things, yeah, that leaves me with a little less to do. I have no regrets though...my raiding days were over years ago in WoW. Normal, the 24 man raids and Extreme primals are about as "hardcore" as I'll ever really get.

If you're having doubts about the game, take a break. I would also make sure you understand just what kind of game this really is and how it's largely meant to be played. If it's affecting your real life negatively and unrealistically so...I would walk away entirely for awhile. Seriously, no game should ruin anyone's life. Seek the right help and get yourself back on track. The first step to correcting a problem is admitting there is one.

If you want to leave "for good", then absolutely do delete your account.
Why do you want to keep it if you want to leave indefinitely because of losing too much irl if you continue?
Deleting your account gives you one more obstacle if you would somehow feel the need to start playing again, because your progress would be gone completely.

If you feel like you must quit MMOs forever then yeah it would help to delete character. And uninstall game. Cancel service account. Delete any related gaming bookmarks/favorites from browser. I don't know how to erase it from thoughts because I have addiction too lol but I'm not trying to quit. I think if something feels good in life then keep doing it and just find a way to limit gameplay hours if it's harming other parts of life.

I'm thinking that if you are serious about grabbing an addiction by the horns, then yes, professional help and guidance is better than the forums. In any case, I wish you luck.
