Anima is great how it is now. Walk or get a mount to conserve anima for the times you need it, if you can't do that then this isn't the MMO for you. There are plenty of casual MMO's around if you can't handle walking.

Also, Guild Wars is not an MMO, it is a co-op RPG.

I will not be contributing to this thread in any major way. This has been discussed to death.

I recommend the OP chocobo/goobbue, airship, or teleport leech. If turning in crafting leves travel to all of them by choc/goob then return home. You should be able to get to 100 soon enough.

Anima is fine. Its great for going long distances, but unnecesary for short ones. I play all day long, unemployed, and do tonnes of stuff and never run out of anima. Sometimes I use it in spurts just to get it down past 70 or 80 because I want to treat myself.

I find with airships and chocobos; anima is perfectly attuned to the game.

    Hello,

I must admit I am greatly confused by this. I see lots of people I know on my LS and in parties that keep saying they have no anima, or 1 anima left. I read here about how people are running out of Anima and need more.

I play the game a fair bit (daily), do all sorts of things (quests, ifrit runs, xp parties, explore, leves), and I have never come close to running out of anima. It is rare that I ever drop below 80. I've never been lower than 50 (and that was because I choose to do a Leve->Return->Teleport cycle on DoL leaves (2 at a time) all day long.

I think maybe is it possible that people are not treating Anima with perhaps the right regard? Anima is supposed to be a precious thing. Traveling with Anima is not supposed to be taken lightly. I think twice before each teleport.

I try to optimize for Favourites and Homepoint/Returns. I travel with groups (so the anima cost can be shared). I use Airships/Chocobo when I can (if going from Ul'Dah to Limsa I take an airship not teleport).

What I really do not understand is if the OP plays only 4 times per week, that is 3 times per week that they are generating anima without using it (I believe that is 18 anima?). Over a course of a week you get 6*7 = 42 anima! That means OP is using more than 10/day (on a 4 day/week play time).

Anyways, before this turns into anything more than what it should be, I really think I should just suggest we emphasize the value of anima, treat it with respect and use it sparraingly for it is a precious resource.

People treat Anima regeneration like they treat Inventory slots =)

Anima should stay. It's a great transport alternative for when you are in Camp Crimson Bark and want to go in Limsa Lominsa. If you don't have Anime, just go back to Gridania, take the airsheep, pay the MAX 5'000Gil and fly there, spending almost half an hour to go there. If you don't have money, then walk! (hush, I did that when I died without saving in Treespeak, I returned to Skull Valley and had to run all the way there with the boat, it's not the greatest way to travel!)

Instant teleport, City transport and Sea transport. We should have enough, to be honest, and it's the perfect dose, so manage your Anime and go adventuring!

I actually do like the anima thing so far. I'm not end game yet so I can't really give a fair opinion. But with how I see map layouts, and the amount of end game content, I really can't expect people to go through anima quickly unless they're completely abusing it. Not to mention you can favorite locations to make them cost even less.

I'm kind of neutral on it as well though. AION's way of doing it was very casualized, and it worked. You paid "gil/kinah/gold". Could teleport from each major city, to any major city. And then there were way-points on every map where you could be "flown" to from a giant sparkling bird, for again, "gold".

I'm sure they're saving the major change for 2.0 but I have noticed through only light browsing that this is a big debate issue among the playerbase. I personally support any change as, in its' current state, it's enough for me.

As an FFXI vet I feel this game is very casualized in the sense of travel, though. (At least when I played)

You spend all your anima and now you want to suggest switching to gil. I wont be surprised if you spend all your gil on teleports.

From what I understand anima is there for players with short play time because they'll most likely log in to have some quick leves/quest done asap on the go, and if you can spend hours online you can afford airships/chocobo/goobbue.

This *^.^* Anima is awesome. I love it its not too much of an easy button, but it and Return make the game a lot more "accessible" ( ewwww I hate the use of that word, but ill use it this time). Like Ifrit and timing. Anima is all about rationing for most important uses.

The whole point of anima is to offer a handy conenience without making it excessively easy to get around. It could possibly be tweaked a bit more but it is really not a bad system.
