I don't get why ppl are against dropping it. If you are already walking eveywhere and you like it, dropping it or giving players who are not willing to spend so much time into travel doesn't mean YOU have to use it. It's just another option, a convenience for players with little time who want to get stuff done in the time they play and not traveling to all those places. Hardcore can stay hardcore and don't use it and casual plays at their own pace. Ppl chill

I usually play daily and teleport several times per play session but I've never dropped below 50 anima either. Setting appropriate homepoints and optimizing my favorite locations has prevented me from ever running out. There's really no need to remove the anima restriction for the few people who don't know how to manage it properly. The game world is already small enough as it is, it really doesn't take that long to get anywhere on chocobo right now.

By this logic, there should be a button you can press to instantly beat Ifrit. It saves time for people who don't have half-an-hour to fight him, and the hardcore players dont have to use it. They can still go through the fight if they want to, right?

I was talking about convenience you're about altering the balance of the game. same was when elder scrolls got a fast travel system, all the fanboys were enraged. But thing is, no one tells you to use it in oblivion or skyrim. If you like you can still walk.
Hardcore gamers especially ppl who like rpgs of any kind are always defensive about changes that are improvments for noobs. just because some ppl like it the hard way doesn't mean the developer should alienate other more casual players from their game, who are maybe more interessted in the story then the open ended nature of your game. and don't come me with making it more convenient is like making a game finish button. your giving diffferent player types different options.

That's inter-city travel, not at all what I even alluded to.

"Just because.... doesn't mean they shouldn't alienate the more casual players"? Get real; firstly, you can't alienate a group that wasn't always interested, and secondly, anima IS casual as it is.

There is nothing at all wrong with teleportation as it currently works and there is no reason why anima should be scrapped. The fact is, if you have no anima you can already pay someone to teleport you. It's that simple.

No, you're talking about altering the balance of the game as well. Not on as large a scale as an "I win" button for Ifrit, but still, that's what you're talking about. Invoking the gods of "convenience" and "it's your choice" doesn't change that. I can claim "convenience" and "it's your choice" for the "I win" button, too.

your giving diffferent player types different options.
Isn't an "I win" button just an option? You don't have to do it, after all. And how else are the casual players going to see the story?

They should just instance everything in the game. Longer menu at the Maret Ward as follow:

    LV1-10 Zone
    LV11-20 Zone
    etc.
    Ifrit
    Grand Company #1
    etc.

Requires less design time, requires less mechanic work for devs, doesn't require any type transportation (don't need to bother with linking lore to teleportation too). Also, remove the Gils, just give away all items, Gils are a burden, i mean, you have to play to get them, i don't know what they were thinking...

    /sarcasm off

"Alienating the casual players"?? Anima *caters* to the casual players! If you play only, say, ten hours a week, you should not ever be running out of anima. Just should not be happening to you. If you are, it is because you are devoting zero thought to using it intelligently. And that is with getting fast transport to any place that takes more than five minutes to choco to.

Im surprised no one has talked about the future in this thread... One day there will be MANY zones... and a lot of those wont have cities to airship to. Anima will always have a role in the game. Giving it a 15 minute cooldown is too easy and you wont appreciate and respect teleporting
Giving 1 class the ability to teleport was always silly and unfair...
Every class should have some out of battle use or else none should

"These newbs want teleport to be paid in gil and not anima, oh noozz." Serious? You guys act as if its such a game breaker. The anima system suck @$$, and its so annoying period.

Weigh the Good vs Bad. I sure cant come up with anything that will be bad.
