    Unplayable due to 90002

    Hi,

    I've recently picked up this game, and it's been a blast. Most of the time everything is working fine, but the last two days (I've only played for three) in the evening something breaks, and i can't stay online more than 5 minutes without getting this error whenever I do something meaningful (POTD, dungeons, FATE).

    I've ran the trace command and this is how it looks

    I've had this connection for 2 years and not once have I experienced a single disconnect in any of the games I've played. I've searched this forum and saw some people say that MMOs are more demanding when it comes to routing/connection, but I have not encountered ANY problems with WoW, Eve, Tera, Guild wars, Star Citizen, even PoE.
    The biggest issue with this problem is that it is very inconsistent, meaning it can be stable for 15 hours a day, then all of a sudden 15 disconnects in an hour. Is there a way how this can be fixed, or the technology just isn't there yet?

    Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    Where exactly is this trace route supposed to be going. 199.91.189.36 isn't anything Square Enix related from my understanding. You're likely trying to run a a trace route to someplace that won't accept ping requests, hence why it looks the way it does.

    When this started happening, did anything change/update on your PC? You mention that you can't do Palace of the Dead or FATEs, but are these the only places where you get disconnected? Or can it happen anywhere?

    What kind of connection are you using (wired or wireless)? Can you list everything you've tried so far to alleviate the error?

    Thank you very much for for your reply. I'm not exactly sure where it's supposed to be going, but I saw this IP in several threads about the same issue, for example here:

    To my knowledge nothing changed on my PC, and the error Is extremely random. However, I noticed it happens in the evening (both on Saturday and Sunday). Everything was Ok on Monday. So my guess it has something to do with server load. A few times after DC due to error I had to wait in queue before I could log in again.
    The funny thing is that I was afk for more than an hour and everything was fine, and then, when I queued for a dungeon, I got 3 errors in that run. I then tried to do some FATEs and couldn't finish a single one because it would disconnect me after about 2 minutes or sooner.
    I then did story, and everything was good for an hour or so, but then I got the error as well. So It can happen anywhere.

    I am using a wired connection from router to my PC. I didn't try much because I don't really know what I can do. I disabled firewall and later tried to play from mobile network. I didn't get any errors on mobile network, but I don't know if that helped or the error fixed itself like it usually does. Next time I'll start getting a bunch if them I'll switch immediately and see if that helps.

    My understanding is that this error is quite common and people say it's "relatable", many people recommend using WTFast to alleviate it, some say it's a problem encountered only on European servers.
    Anyway, I appreciate any help you can offer.

    Thank you for the update Inspired2150.

    That IP address may have been used before the Data Centers were moved, which would explain your trace route. The error states that you have been disconnected from the game, so it's not something specific to any one data center.

    If you didn't have issues with your mobile connection, it may be something with your router. First I'd suggest resetting your router by simply turning it off then back on. After that, makes sure the following ports are opened:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040
    Your ISP can open these ports for you.

    You mentioned that you disabled your firewall, but does this include your anti-virus? Or did you disable that as well?
