Raid behavior is getting worse lately

I don't have anything about being gay in my search patterns but several times it has come up in dailies/raids due to folks making comments and me responding to them.

I've never actually had a hard time with folks on my end, but I also now it's a big game and that won't be everyone's experience.

I had my second bad run In a row today. I am proud of my sexuality, and I like to role play as an LGBT+ Mol Tribe member.

People took note of my search info, and decided to harass me in the Labyrinth of the Ancients. They kept putting the ignore 1 mark on me, and teasing me the whole time. I wasn’t there to roleplay. I was just leveling a DPS job, and trying to get through a roulette like everyone else.

It got worse progressively through the dungeon. I wasn’t feeling well already, because I’m a little sick, and as a I result I made a simple error, and died. No one revived me. They left me behind, and teased me relentlessly. I wanted to report them, but honestly something in me just froze up, and I got too afraid. I’ve had bad things happen to me In real life, because of LGBT+ discrimination, which I prefer not to get into due to PTSD. I just really want people to know that how they treat people in content matters. Please don’t forget that you are playing with real people, and that respect is important.

Who cares what people put on their search info if it’s not yours to edit, or filled with any hateful messages. I understand that old content is trash mobby, and can be boring for some, but it’s not an excuse to be unpleasant to others. Remember you don’t have to believe in anyone’s life style, and that it’s okay to disagree with othersX It would be really cool if most of us could just play this game together, and coexist without drama, or bullying for any reason.

If they harass you report them and move on. This behaviour has nothing to do with raids it has only to do with the fact that some people will always judge and harass you because of how you look, your skin color or your sexual orientation.

damien you have more than every right to keep posting. anyone who tells you otherwise only speaks of what they experienced not anyone else, so don't let thier sad lives be yours.

Usually gets worse after a patch, since a lot of people come back for like a month to do the content then leave. Doesn't excuse harassment but yeah.

Either that or they know you from the forums or something. (Making a thread like this just gives trolls ammo since they know it bothers you.) I rarely see people even talk to others unless they are preventing a group from clearing due to performance or fudging mechanics.

OP the best thing you can do is to not show that these people are upsetting you. If they see that their actions bother you it will only compel them to continue and even worsen what they say. And they will do the same with their next victims if they're successful with those they came across before. Sadly this thread is more likely to feed their awful deeds than stop them.

Try queuing for content with trusted friends so you have some support if you encounter this horrible behaviour again. If you cannot then maybe it's best to just leave when you encounter it, or blacklist people so you can no longer see what they say and continue doing the content.

Of course report anyone who is being a bully. If they do it enough times and get reported each time they will eventually get banned. You not reporting these people could have actually saved them from getting banned. As I understand there is something of a strike system, so if someone is reported multiple times they eventually use up their last chances to improve their ways. You never know, one of these abusers in the event you spoke of could have been on their last legs as far as SE are concerned.

I know it is very difficult to keep silent when you are being bullied, but the truth is your silence would discourage them as there's no fun in teasing someone who doesn't respond. It is difficult to report when you feel it's but a complaint thrown into the void but you should use the tools SE give you because reporting nothing will solve nothing. At least with a report there is a chance they will be dealt with.

I am not going to tell you to delete your search info, but perhaps look at rephrasing it. Maybe stating the same things in a different manner would make you less likely to become a target.

Sorry about your bad experience. I'd recommend reporting them for harassment now instead of letting them get away with it. The good thing is that FFXIV has one of the least toxic communities in any MMO, but there are still going to be rude people sometimes (and in any content, not just raids). People like that want attention and a reaction and they don't care about how they treat people, so don't let it get to you too much or let it ruin raiding for you, because that would be giving them what they want.

Could be from them never winning rolls like me and starting to get mad. when keep running same raid over 5 times and still never won one roll and then they start taking it out on others. Fixing the loot problem might help some.

No offense, but they more than likely were not harassing you because of your sexuality, but because you tend to be highly inappropriate in game (first hand experience).

Was what they did okay? No. But it was probably not because of your sexuality.

Blacklist those people and move on. FFXIV is the most LBGTQ friendly game out there, and a few people are not indicative of the masses.

I very rarely post on forums and don't know anyone here, so I don't know what "obvious bait" means. Do you mean they're a known troll making up a fake stories about harassment? If so, that's terrible and they need to find better things to do. I've had some horrible experiences in FFXIV, so I usually believe someone when they say they're being harassed or mistreated.
