This is never easy to do successfully with multi-platform games.

Because it is being released on PS3, it is FORCED to use a lot of CPU rendering. This is why (for instance) a game like skyrim, completely RAPES people in FPS with shadow settings. The CPU renders the shadows, because that's the only option. The PS3 doesnt have enough raw power in its GPU.

I'm sure they'll have a SOMEWHAT default detection based on hardware. But like all games, 90% of the time this is a huge estimate and if you really care about performance and quality you would never actually go by it.

Just know, that CPU will likely be the huge factor in 2.0 more then anything. I'm not sure about now, as I'm confident that they probably could not get the game to perform well on PS3 at all. Some of the settings causing the game to get a 90% performance loss is pretty good evidence of CPU/GPU optimization.

But the immersion excuse is very tedious.
