can't tell if serious.

A slider bar in-game (hehe, unloving sponge attack) would be nice.
With option templates such as Very Low, Low, Medium, High, Very High, Ultra High, and Custom. You can use one of these as your template and then make modifications. Players can quickly determine whether one of the templates works for them without having to take a screenshot, leave the game, make an adjustment, log in, load back into the game, new screenshot, etc.

Aside from the immersion comment, I think the request is a good one.
Played anothe PC game recently (you know, the one with the arrow and the knee), and liked the fact that it auto-set the settings after analyzing hardware. It allowed to play now, and care about settings later (you're excited to play now when you just buy a game normally ...).
Anything that can enhance new players experience at this point is welcome.

Does it ever ruin your immersion that you're sitting at a desk staring at a little screen? I mean come on dude what are you really trying to get here? FFXIV has a separate config program, use it before you load the game. And I apologize if calling it a game ruined your immersion.

>_>
Hehehehehehehe.

I thought PC gaming was all about config settings? Quite often messing with configs is more fun than the game itself no? Take skyrim for a recent example...

Some games even allow you to change settings while the game is running! Isn't that like totally unbelievable? ò.Ó
Sadly ffxiv currently only has two possible configurations: unplayable and omg-it's-gonna-burn-my-gpu
Would be nice if 2.0 had settings that actually have an effect on performance.
