They pretend to get away with most things by slapping 'Allagan' on them, even though the aesthetics for that have been all over the place as well.

Can't wait for the Ranged set. Finally something I'd love to user that fits both BRD and MCH. Now to hope they don't botch it in-game like they often do with these designs.

I think the Ranged set suffers 2 problems:

1.) It's gonna look real similar to half the Sky Pirate equipment
2.) They specifically mentioned the Scarf/Cape on the male piece. (I agree, it looks nice.) And yet the female one only has a boring open back with no scarf or cape at all.

For the melee dps. I would have rather had the 7th one down. The black and green hooded one. Even if they had to remove the gauntlet spikes to make room for the gauntlet weapons it would have been better than the body suit thing.

I love the sky pirate head and torso, the rest just spoil it all and make the full set a huge turn off to me anyway. This short is so damn ugly who ever think "yeah lets make a sky pirate design whith a bit of military vibe and give it pants for 12 years old." ?!

I like it.

I'm torn, though, since the set will need a subtle bulge on male characters if it's going to be that skin tight. Which is something I don't expect the developers to do...

I also hope some of the runner up sets make it into the game in the future. I'm a bit surprised by how often 'Allagan' looking sets win out, though. Especially when a lot of tomestone sets are allagan themed.

i'm kinda happy that the female version don't have a cape, a lot of cape on gear clips with mi'qote and au'ra tails.

the melee look interesting, we have tons of gear over the top that often not adapted to jobs like monk and ninja, because they have long skirt or cap that look super weird when they fight. especially with the low stance of the ninja.
the ranged dps stuff is simply gorgeous and perfectly fitting if you think about it, we gonna go in garlean territory that have more technology. this steampunk feeling is interesting.

and of course the runner ups have a much better design than the entry who won… at least in my opinion. This design is… boring

I honestly prefer the winner, because most of the runner ups look like the usual stuff that we have anyway.

Can't wait to see how they manage to turn the Healing sets into dresses robes for both.


As for the actual designs, I don't really dislike them. In fact I find them a bit better than whatever won tank/caster/healer in terms of aesthetics. But I still want to see what they do with the set theme for the other roles.

I like the winner for the melee set. It's sleek and probably fits with the expansion theme if we're headed to Garlemald.

Besides, we know SE files the runner ups away for future inspiration, anyway. Still, I liked the Gryphon Set of Maiming better. Delinquent is sexy due to the open chest design, but otherwise the style is not too dissimilar to existing gear. Runner up 6 would look awesome on a NIN or SAM.

The ranged one is not bad, either. Fits a MCH more so than a BRD, but it's an elegant aesthetic rather than BRD's more often than not gaudy ones.

I think the Shooting Ritual of the Sun one is not bad at all but it would certainly fit a caster dps better. The Regal Tunic was probably my fave.
