MELEE GEAR CONTEST WINNERS

This is what I was noticing. I get it's a JP game, but there are plenty of amazing entries from non-JP designers. Even the majority of the runner ups tend to be JP artists, for all of the art contests. If you don't intend on ever picking a winner from a different region, just restrict entries to JP players and be done with it. It's worth noting this current housing contest is region-separated (not sure if the other one was), otherwise I'm sure we'd be seeing a preponderance of this too.

Agreed. It's one thing for it to happen a couple of times and then we can chalk it up as a mere coincidence, but this is every time there's a gear design contest. At this point, the bias is clear as rain to see. They even break their own rules during the finalist stage by picking two designs; in each of the melee and range category that were made by the same JP person when that spot could have been open towards an EU or NA designer.

Like, at this point in time, I would not fault or blame participants from NA or EU if they just swore off in ever entering these things because it's all becoming so ingenious from the company each and every time towards our two regions. We get it. You're heavily bias towards your own country. Fine. Then, at least just restrict entries towards JP players only or start making region based contests where we get a single grand prize winner from JP...AND from EU and NA.

If we had a grand prize winner from each region for the gear design contests like these and many others that weren't region based, it would seem a whole lot more fair towards the rest of the player base that SE seems to ignore on a daily basis.

They were heavily bias towards the JP players in XI too if I recall as well.

Tank contest winner: High-allagan MK-2 (boring indeed) . JAP designer

Magic DPS contest winner : devilish-like black coat , mostly ok but the IG model look not so good thanks to bad clipping. JAP designer

Healer : White coat (extremely boring) that look like cr*p on male characters because it's not the same model. Jap designer

Melee : kinda ok but not the best design. I wonder how it will look like IG. JAP designer

Ranged : Machinist AF MK-2 , so yet again no originality and "surprise" : JAP designer


I won't say that those contest were not totally fair but I sure have doubts...
And SB skins (and not only skins) are just bad in general. Very few "good" design.

Whatever... Continue to give the same thing over and over again, we don't have enough of white robes/coat for healers.

If I remember right, the last few contest winners/runner ups were mostly Japanese too.
As if the rest of the world doesn't have any great ideas :/

It's such a shame that I love healing, and not much else, but then a good portion of the gear that really catches my eye is set for mnk and/or ranged jobs

With these new outfits, I can't say I particularly care for the melee set, but I do (once again) like that ranged set.

I dream of the day that XIV introduces cross-class glamouring.

As much as I find the melee one totaly ugly as hell and by far the worst.

The ranged one is absolutely gorgeous and my favorite of them all !
